They claim that the secret to making big money online is in selecting the right products through a repeatable strategy, which they will tell you after you pay $1,495 for their program.

As a stay-at-home mom, juggling kids and a side hustle while maintaining a clean home, I need a low-maintenance but quick-income biz. Reginald and Tania’s offers seem legit, but is it a good choice for moms? This Ecom Family Academy review covers all you need to know about the course, its creators, and the print-on-demand and Shopify dropshipping business models. I’ll also share some challenges of this biz that you need to know about before signing up. 

Ecom Family Academy is a hybrid e-commerce course that teaches both Shopify dropshipping and the print-on-demand business model. Reginald and Tania simplify membership to this program into a three-step process. First is to pick your platform, next is to pay with your card, and the final step is to follow the setup guide. The key lesson in this program is to pick the most profitable products and find out the biggest sellers for these specific items. There’s a conditional 30 day-refund policy on the program as well. To apply for a refund, you need to prove you went through the whole course, followed all the necessary steps, and spent at least $1,000 on ads. 

Reginald and Tania Jennings are the creators of Ecom Family Academy. Reginald’s interest in technology started early. In fact, he helped build websites for the National Guard when he was still 13 years old. Reginald earned his degree in Management of Information Systems from Central Connecticut State University in 2009. This extensive tech background became the foundation for creating the Ecom Family Academy. Tania is Reginald’s high school sweetheart. She was initially into culinary, but this changed when she met Reginald. This husband-and-wife duo became the image and backbone of Ecom Family Academy. They’re also known as Mr. and Mrs. Ecom and have made a noise in the e-commerce world since they debuted online in 2021. 

Ecom Family Academy: Shopify Dropshipping and Print-On-Demand

The Ecom Family Academy covers two key Ecommerce business models: Shopify dropshipping and print-on-demand. Shopify dropshipping involves sourcing products from overseas suppliers and selling them on Shopify for a profit. Dropshippers don’t keep an inventory of goods because the supplier ships directly to the customers. Since you’re not buying the inventory, the upfront capital requirement is lower compared to other ecom business models. On the downside, it’s a saturated business. 26% of online retailers (around 7 million) are using this order fulfillment method. Dropshippers also face inevitable challenges like low-quality products, low profit margins, and unpredictable returns. 

Print-on-demand is the other ecom business taught by Ecom Family Academy. This business model involves selling customized products like mugs, hats, and tote bags. According to a LinkedIn article, the POD industry is already worth over 6.5 billion, and it steadily grows by 26.8% annually. It’s a rising market with huge business potential. However, there are also inherent risks to this business model like low profit margins and little control over order fulfillment and product quality. 

Ecom Family Academy has lots of positive reviews online. I didn’t find any negative reviews on it which left me thinking if they regulated posts that scrutinized the course. But I’d give them the benefit of the doubt. I think Ecom Family Academy is a decent ecommerce course overall. The course provides good training on everything you need to know about the course, including tools, software, and strategies. Reginald Jenning’s tech background and extensive ecom experience that dates back to 1998 also deserve some credit. 

What I would caution about is the conditional refund policy. Getting a refund wouldn’t be easy even if you’ve spent $1,000 on ads. Proving that the course doesn’t work would be a challenge and they still have the final say whether or not they’d give back your money in full.

He also mentions that Ecom Family Academy now has over 4,000 members who collaborate in an online community.

Is Ecom Family Academy A Good Fit For Moms?

Ecom Family Academy could be a good fit for moms who have a background in e-commerce and retail sales. However, moms who are complete beginners in this industry might struggle to implement the steps and strategies taught in the course. Aside from the $1,495 one-time course fee, you also need to prepare for additional tools and paid ads. Shopify also charges a monthly recurring fee. The starter plan is $15 monthly plus an online transaction fee of 5% plus 30 cents. The most expensive plan (advanced) costs $299 monthly and charges a recurring transaction fee of 2.4% plus 30 cents. Interested students should also be mindful of the low profit margins in dropshipping, it’s only between 15% to 20%. This industry has also seen high failure rates over the years. Only 1 or 2 of those who ventured into this biz ended up successful. 

Print-on-demand also has inherent challenges. It is highly dependent on third-party suppliers, so changes like price increases and product phase-outs will directly affect your business. It’s also quite saturated, so it can be challenging to find niche products that sell in volumes. The biggest downside of both business models is they both use paid ads which are very expensive. Reginald and Tania highly encourage advertising on Facebook and TikTok, two of the most expensive platforms to advertise on. The median ad spend on Facebook is $500 per month, some even spend upward of $3K. The minimum spend for ad groups on TikTok is $20 daily and $50 for ad campaigns. 

Overall, Ecom Family Academy is one of the better e-commerce courses and it’s also fairly priced. Mrs. Ecom proved that it's possible for moms to run a business from home while being hands-on with the household. However, implementing the strategies taught in the program can be expensive. You’ll heavily invest in paid ads without guaranteed returns. If you’re a mom on a budget, who’s looking for a stable online income source, my recommendation is local lead generation. This business model builds digital properties and ranks them #1 on Google. This places you in front of a broad audience who's looking for the products and services you offer. Once ranked site alone makes at least $2K monthly, and you can create as many as you like. With local lead gen, you have full control of the business and you never have to pay for ads.
