I’m always a bit nostalgic and homesick for America on July 4th, but as an expat living abroad, I can tell you firsthand that we Americans should never take our freedom for granted. We truly are a blessed country.

Enjoy your holiday weekend!

I grew up in the states but live on the island of Guam now. I miss the states on the 4th as well. We do celebrate it here but it’s just not the same.

However, we celebrate Liberation Day on July 21st, because that’s when the island was liberated from the Japanese control by the Americans. This is when the island has a big parade and I enjoy learning about the history of the island.
