So far during our Cloth Diapering 101 week, you’ve heard about the different types of cloth diapers available, why you should at least consider cloth diapers, answers to common misconceptions about cloth diapers, and two videos that show you how to use and clean them. Today, I’m going to review the cloth diaper brands I recommend.
This list is not exhaustive. There are many, many cloth diaper brands that do a great job, and have their superiority for any wide variety of reasons. But I don’t want to review something I haven’t actually tried, so today’s information is solely based on my personal experience. In the comments section, feel free to use similar criteria to add your $.02 about another brand you like.
The reviewed criteria are absorbency, cost, overall fit, drying time (on a clothesline), the cute factor, the company’s customer service, and Dad and Grandparent-friendliness. This last category is contributed by my husband, who rated each diaper based on his first-hand experience. Hesitant dads, grandparents, and other caregivers is a major consideration with cloth diapers, so it’s important to give honest feedback regarding a diaper’s ease of use.
I’ve rated the diapers in each category from one to five clothespins. Here are the definitions:

• Perfect Size Diaper from FuzziBunz (Pocket Diaper)

This is a great diaper from FuzziBunz. It’s the one we have the most quantity of, so we use one of these almost daily. They’re a cinch to snap, and the shape is great around the legs — we’ve never had a blow-out with one of these. My son is skinny, so the caboose is a little loose, but that means there’s plenty of room to add a doubler or extra insert at night. These are one of the fastest-drying diapers we have, and the customer service is wonderful. I’ve interacted with them a few times, and they’ve always responded very quickly to my emails. FuzziBunz is a great company.
I also love their other products I have. We use their hanging diaper pail, and we’ve never had an odor problem. After we wash it with the diapers, it dries really quickly. We carry their travel wet bag in our diaper bag, so the few times we’ve needed it, there’s never been a smell issue — you can’t tell anything’s in your diaper bag. This comes in handy in other ways, too, since it’s waterproof — our older daughter wet her underwear and jeans one time, and we just tossed them in there until we got home. It can also go in the wash.
I like their wipes, too. With their Organic Double-Sided Wipes, one side is cotton and the other side is a soft fleece. They work great for getting off poop, especially in combo with homemade diaper wipe solution.
Overall, I don’t think you can go wrong with anything by FuzziBunz.
• 3.0 One-Size Diaper from BumGenius (Pocket Diaper)

This is a great, quick-drying diaper that fits my trim baby really well. We’ve never had an explosion in this one, either, and the Aplix (super-strong velcro) stays put. I only have one of these diapers, but I’m happy every time I use it. The insert has snaps so that you can optionally shorten the insert and make it thicker in the front, which is great for a boy. And because you can adjust the size with the snaps in front, you only need one set of these diapers to last from birth to potty.
BumGenius is very popular with cloth diapering mamas, so even though it’s on the pricey side, you might be able to find secondhand diapers on the internet.
• Blueberry One-Size Bamboo Velour Diaper from Swaddlebees (Pocket Diaper)

This is quite the luxurious diaper from Swaddlebees! It’s easily adjustable for any size you need, and the inside is a super-soft organic bamboo cotton blend. The Aplix is really strong, too. The best thing about this diaper is the inserts — each diaper comes with two! One is smaller, for the really young age, and the second one is longer that snaps together as a trifold. You can use the smaller insert as a doubler at night, so you’ve essentially got four layers going on. Each layer is really thin but absorbent — this is often our nighttime diaper.
My only complaint is the cost. It’s one of the pricier pocket diapers out there, so if you’re interested in Swaddlebees, you could first look secondhand.
• Side Snapping Diaper from BottomBumpers (All-In-One Diaper)

BottomBumpers as more of a hybrid of a pocket and AIO, because BottomBumpers includes a soaker that snaps on top of the inside. It’s a double-folded, super-soft organic cotton padding topped with bamboo velour. It’s a breeze to snap in because you don’t even need to reach inside. But what I love best about these diapers is the fit — for my slim little man, these are the best-fitting diapers we have. They contour wonderfully between the legs, and the side snaps keep it nice and trim on the bottom.
Again, the only issue is the cost. But for an AIO, it’s not bad. And I love that I’m supporting a small cottage industry run by a mom.
• Bamboozle from Bummis (Fitted Diaper)

Oh my goodness, I love this diaper from Bummis. This diaper has four layers of bamboo, which means it’s compact yet super-absorbent. It is unbelievably soft! I love that a 100% bamboo is so eco-friendly — bamboo is a renewable resource with a very short growth cycle and it is grown without fertilizers or pesticides. Plus, it’s breathable, cool, and absorbs 60% more than cotton. This is one of our favorite diapers, and I’d have more if it weren’t for the cost. Still, I love how slim-fitting these diapers are. There’s absolutely no puffy bum here. He’s wearing this diaper under the Imse Vimse Organic Wrap photo, reviewed below.
• Organic Cotton Prefolds from Bummis (Prefold Diaper)

These are the prefolds that come with Bummis’ Organic Cotton Diaper Kit, a complete diapering system in a box. These unbleached prefolds are super absorbent and soft, and they’re a great size for my son — he’s wearing one under the Bummis Super Brite Wrap photo, reviewed below. So far, they’ve held up very well. As we’ve mentioned all week, the best benefit of prefolds is the cost — they’re definitely the cheapest cloth diaper available. But I also love their versatility — you can fold them a myriad of ways to fit your baby, and depending on the wrap you use, you could hold it together with a Snappi or simply hold it securely within the wrap. Don’t be intimidated by the idea of prefolds. Once you get the hang of them, diaper changing goes really quickly.
The main downside is possible reluctance from dads, grandparents, or other caregivers. If this is the case, and you want to mostly use prefolds and wraps, I’d recommend still using a few pockets or AIOs, and they can use these when it’s their turn.
• Super Brite Wrap and Super Whisper Wrap from Bummis (Diaper Cover/Wrap)

Bummis makes great wraps! I love both my Super Brite wrap in Blue and my Super Whisper wrap in Froggy Pond. They fit really well around a Bamboozle or a prefold, and the gussets around the legs has meant no leaks at all. I also like that there’s a little pocket in front so that you can slip in a prefold without Snappis. The Aplix on these guys are also the strongest I’ve seen — there’s no way my son could ever take this off. And since these are quite popular wraps, you’re likely to find some secondhand.
• Organic Cotton Cover from Imse Vimse (Diaper Cover/Wrap)

This is a very lightweight, soft cover with the most adorable farm print. I think this is my favorite in the cute department! The hook and closure front is softer, but our son has never been able to remove this. I do wish there were inside velcro tabs to close up the velcro for wash time, but it’s no problem just to adhere it to the front. This cover also fits my son perfectly – there’s no bagginess, and the gussets in the legs work wonderfully. It’s a bit pricier than other wraps, but if you’re going for cute, you can’t go wrong with these covers.
gDiapers (Hybrid Diaper)

If the thought of cloth diapers still seems challenging to you, then perhaps a hybrid diaper is your answer. gDiapers consist of a washable, cotton outer ‘little g’ pant and a plastic-free flushable diaper refill. They are made of breathable material just like sports clothing. So the outside is a simple cotton cover, and inside is a detachable waterproof liner. Inside the liner, you add a flushable diaper insert, which makes the diaper absorbent. When it’s dirty, you can either flush the insert, compost it (it breaks down in 50-150 days), or even toss it in the trash — there’s no plastic, so it’s biodegradable. You should still toss poop in the toilet, though.
I thought these would be harder than they were. Putting in the inserts were just as easy as refilling a pocket diaper, and the simple procedure behind flushing the insert is easy, once you get the hang of it. gDiapers’ website has a video on how the process works, and their customer service is fabulous — I called them with questions, and the woman on the phone was friendly, down-to-earth, and helpful.
My main complaint is the cost. These diapers are expensive. If your driving factor behind using cloth diapers is cost, then gDiapers aren’t for you. You can buy them locally at a wide variety of stores like Whole Foods, but the refill inserts still average about $.47. Quite a bit more than standard disposables. Until their price is lowered, I can’t really use gDiapers. But their covers work great as wraps for prefolds, and they’re super cute.
In addition to all these diapers, I also highly recommend using Snappis, Bummis BioSoft Liners, Imse Vimse Flushable Liners, and Soapnuts for cleaning. Many of you use all kinds of products, so please share your recommendations in the comments section. We can make this post a resource guide for people overwhelmed by their choices. So please contribute all you can!

Upstatemomof3´s last blog post…Time Is Flying!!
We use(d) prefolds and FB with DD1– I fell off the CD train when my second was born but would like to go back to it now that she is close to potty training!
I am currently pregnant with my second child. I did not use cloth diapers with my first child, but am really excited to start with my second. I am due in October and hoping to have a stash by delivery. I am excited about the investment in my child, the environment, and my family’s finances. I hope these work for us, and like to laugh at all the people who give me the “cloth diapers….gross” attitude!
I like the fuzzy bunz best because they are super absorbent and they dry very quickly. They also can fit the babies when they are skinny or chunky because of the multiple snaps across the diaper.
We started using fuzzibunz when our 2 year old was 2 months old and now are using them with her and her 9 month old sister. We love them and are so grateful for the savings in cost and garbage! Our one problem is nighttime- does anyone have any tips?

I have a 10 month old daughter. We use BumGenius 3.0 and I have to say, it’s the best decision we’ve made. I did a lot of research, and ended up registering for these. I would LOVE to try other brands though. I plan on having a couple more kiddos. It was great registering for them because I didn’t have to pay for them. I registered for them at http://www.cottonbabies.com. Anyways, they don’t leak at all–they are fabulous. AND they wash well. I was them and then dry the outside cover first, then the microfiber inserts–because the inserts require much more dry time and I don’t want to wear out the PUL heating them up so much. I am very excited that I won’t have to pay a dime for diapering my next child since I have these great diapers! I highly recommend them. I would love, love, love to win the other brands simply because we have never tried anything else. Thanks!
I do not yet use cloth diapers but I have been considering it because I’d like to keep disposable diapers out of landfills. Fronting the initial cost is a major concern for us as we are on a tight budget so I’d love to win this giveaway and try them out! Thanks for this helpful week of posts.
I was CD’ing my daughter until my son was born and I never got the hang of CD’ing two under two! I would like to get back into it though one of these days. I sold my FuzziBunz, but my favs were the Bumgenius 3.0s one size diaper.

sheila´s last blog post…Thank God for Synonyms
I’ve been cloth diapering for 7 years and my favorite are my 7 year old fzzy bunz. The size large diapers are on their last kid after years of heavy use, but the mediums and smalls are ready for another kid! ( Won’t be one of mine as I think 4 is enough…..)
I love cloth diapers, and have been using them for over a year. I’m expecting another little on in Nov. and will use them again. All mine were made by my sister and here is a link to her Blog. http://seamssewneat.blogspot.com/
I’m already using cloth diapers on my 16 mo. little girl and I’m looking forward to cloth diapering a newborn for the first time in November (my last two were cloth diapered from 12 mos. and then 4 mos). I purchased some diapers from a WAHM- wonderunders.com- and I’ve LOVED them. They are pocket diapers, all are custom made for you and are very cute! They are quite absorbent, though they do need a doubler for over night, and I’ve found that they are quite affordable. These are the diapers my DH reaches for first when changing our little one, even over other pocket diapers.
That is so weird I have a 16 month old daughter that I use cloth on, and I’m due in Nov. for our 4th.
I am very new to cloth diapering (I have not begun yet but plan to very soon!) The main reason I am going to start is because my son has started to become allergic to disposables. We started with pampers swaddlers but he is now too big for them and every diaper we have tried he develops eczema really bad around his lower abdomen and back. So, as soon as his last of his (too tiny) swaddlers run out we plan to start cloth. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!!
I have not used cloth diapers yet but am looking into it for my 2nd. I like the affordability of cloth and I feel like it is a way I can manage our money better, even if it is a little more work in some ways. I am even thinking about switching my 21 month old over!
I tweeted about this giveaway!! http://twitter.com/eclairemom/status/2046682261
Thanks!!
I have never cloth dipaered. I would like to try. I have three kids and the youngest is still a baby. I am willing to try to save lots of money in the end! Thanks!
Well, I’m due in 9 weeks with my first child and already we’ve purchased the Bummis prefolds with Thirsties covers. However, based on your comments about dealing with family members and CDing, I’m thinking it’d be great to have some AIOs!
I blogged about this Fantastic giveaway!! http://www.hamfam365.blogspot.com/2009/06/simple-mom-giveaway.html
Thanks!!
I use the BG 3.0 – I love them. They are easy to put on and with both inserts work great as an overnight diaper (no leaks) on my supersoaker. I have much less rash with them. I also use g-diapers sometimes. I do sometime get blowouts up the back with them although the same thing happens at daycare (with disposables). I really like them with a fleece insert.
I recently started cloth with my 3rd and so far I have 2 favorites. The Blueberry one size deluxes are super absorbant and still pretty trim, great for overnight. The Bum-ware Extreme AIOs are great for daytime use, super trim, yet still very absorbant!

My husband and I are expecting in August and we jointly made the decision to try cloth diapers. We’re planning to use the Bum Genuis brand because friends have had great success with this particular style.
I’ve really enjoyed reading all the entries this week about cloth diapering — it has given me confidence that we’re making the right decision for the baby, the environment, and even our wallets!
I posted about this giveaway on my blog http://bobandabbies.blogspot.com/2009/06/cloth-diapers.html
I love my bum genius 3.0. They are the only ones I tried and bought. I’d love to try some of the other ones that are being given away. I love BG because they are so easy and fit all sizes.
I’ve been giving cloth diapers a good long look and I think I’m going to jump in with this next baby. (In due in Jan) My sis-in-law uses Bum Genius and loves them so I thought I’d go that route but I’m open to other options.
I’m due with my first baby on Sunday, and we are very excited about cloth diapering! We are going with Bummis and prefolds for the most part, which I found online at http://www.punkinbutt.com (great website/store owned by a mom in Oregon – helpful articles and cost analysis of disposable vs. CD, and the least expensive of websites that I surveyed. One other bonus: you can create a baby registry on this site!) Buying new still is pricey, so I did find Prorap covers in infant size at a local consignment shop. I hope they work well, too. I’m excited to start CD and any help you can give us with supplies is most welcome! ; ) Thank you so much for this series – very helpful…my husband and I will be watching your videos tonight!
I have used cloth diapers with all of my children. My fourth child is now 4 weeks old. I have tried a wide variety of diapers. So far, my favorite diaper has been the Mother’s Touch One Size diaper cover. I use a prefold inside of the cover and they work great. I have used these covers reguarly on my very big toddler boy for the past year and they NO signs of wear and tear at all. They are very size adjustable and a great value for your money.
Amanda´s last blog post…Meal Plan Monday
I started out with prefolds when my oldest was born and they are still my favorites. They can be folded in different ways depending on baby’s needs and are easy to wash (especially with a flushable liner!) and quick to dry.
I am planning to CD my first child that is due in December. The more I research and saw how much money was spent on disposables and how much easier CDing had become I couldn\’t justify spending that much money on diapers that are thrown away. This blog series has been great for helping me think through what type of CDs I want to try to use. Thanks!
i am willing to give cloth a try with baby #4 since it seems like a simple way to save money & be a better steward of creation.
I’m new to cloth diapering–using the bumgenius brand. I’d love a few more diapers to get me started!!
We just switched my 14-month-old daughter to cloth, part-time. Since the Cotton Babies retail store is literally three minutes away from my house, we went with the bumGenius 3.0. They’re great so far! I tried prefolds with covers, too, but right now my girl is just too wiggly for that to work for us. I know that the velcro can wear out, but the convenience is worth it for me.
I am line-drying the diapers to save energy and hopefully make them last longer, since I’m excited to use them on our next baby, due in December.
One thing to consider with the cost is that you may also need/want to buy some CD accessories, like a waterproof bag or two and maybe a diaper sprayer. I don’t think I could CD a toddler without the sprayer! Those things cost us an extra $100 or so in addition to the diapers.
My husband and I have been researching cloth diapering for a while. The expense of diapering two is what got my attention at first; but the other reasons you mentioned earlier this week are also on our minds! I didn’t realize that the extra water/laundry wasn’t REALLY as much as I thought it was, either.
I’ve been picking some friends’ brains this week, and we may be taking the plunge soon. We just want to make sure that we make an investment we can live with!
Sarah´s last blog post…Happy Birthday, Fave!
I’m a CD user for the last two+ years, and I love it! I bought mine without any real help from anyone, since I didn’t know anyone at the time using them. I went with the BumGenius 2.0 pocket all-in-ones, and have been nothing but satisfied with them. My only regret being that I chose boring old white covers instead of a cute green or yellow, and that I didn’t start with the oldest of my four kids. I started when my 3rd was just over a year, and I was preggers with #4.
However, if I had to do it all again, knowing then what I know now, I would have chosen cotton pre-folds, snappis, and made my own outer wraps (or had my friends make them for me.) They are much cheaper, and I would not have to strip them as often.
Because the BumGenius isn’t 100% cotton on the outside, they have to be stripped once a week here, because of oil build-up and hard water, in order for them to maintain their absorbancy. It’s not a difficult process by any means, just something I have to remember to do.
I don’t have a clothesline, and won’t for awhile, otherwise, this would not be a problem. Really, it’s not an “issue”, but took me awhile to figure out what I needed to do in order to fix the absorbency issue I began having about 3 months into using them.
Since I figured it out, I haven’t had one other problem at all. I LOVE that I didn’t have to buy different sizes, and I love that even though we spent about $400+ on 24 diapers & doublers, I have STILL saved well over $1500 or more using cloth instead of disposable for my two youngest.
Tiff @ The Faery Inn´s last blog post…It’s Tuesday…
We love cloth diapering! We use Bumgenius one size diapers and love them. We also use G Diapers on occasion but find them a bit less absorbant and not cost-effective. Interested in using pre-folds in the future now that we are so comfortable with using cloth!
I’m willing to use cloth because my sister in law does, and loves it… Whenever I talk to her, she extols the virtues of cloth diapers. And since we’re planning on having multiple children, the cost savings is a big plus!
I’ve been cloth diapering for 2 yrs now. I’ve used mainly DryBees (pocket) and BumGenius. There’s a few others I’d love to try though.
Just tweeted the giveaway:

Talina´s last blog post…Getting back to teaching, once Tater is born.
I don’t currently use cloth diapers, but I have a 1 1/2 year old and one on the way in October and I’m really wanting to make the plunge into cloth diapering. I hate taking out that bag ful of diapers every few days…just makes me sick! Would love to win any of these great products to get me started!
thanks for all the great posts this week…it’s giving me the confidence and motivation I need to make the switch!
I am currently using cloth diapers with my 17 month old son, and have used them practically since his birth. I have used many different kinds, from my own homemade fitteds (made from prefolds and walmart flannel), to Swaddlebees organic fitteds (which I loved for his skinny legs), to BumGenius 2.0 pocket one-size all-in-ones (these I found with flaws for $5!!!) to plain old-fashioned prefolds with homemade covers.
My husband’s favorite by far are the BumGenius (I’ve even gotten babysitters to use them.) I used prefolds the most because of the cost factor, but once I found those BumGenius it was hard to go back. I also really like GAD pocket diapers, but haven’t been able to find them for as inexpensive as I found the BumGenius. I hang out my diapers to dry most of the time, and don’t really have trouble with them smelling.
My favorite thing about cloth diapering is the cloth wipes I made and use. They clean so much better, are easy to wash, and my son’s behind is much less irritated when I use the wipes and cloth vs. disposables.
I have been cloth diapering my son for a little more than a year, the cost of disposables and all the blow outs led me to give it a try. We are expecting our second and would love to add to our stash for the new baby. A diaper we love that hasn’t been mentioned are HuggaBuns, very similar in fit to a Fuzzibunz, but a lot less expensive.
I am for giving cloth diapers a try. It seems like the money saving, earth-friendly way to go. Thanks for all of the info!
Thanks to your CD 101 class, I’m ready to take the plunge! 3 of many reasons: to save money, protect little bums, and to become more self-reliant
I have not used cloth diapers. I would love to try it. I do like to think of it as reduce, reuse and recycle concept. Thanks for all the info this past week. very helpful.
I have had a love/hate relationship with our cloth diapers, mainly because I am not such a task-oriented person, so doing the extra laundry can be a challenge. BUT we use both kissaluvs contours and bum genius and love them both. We are trying to go full-time cloth for the summer to save money and because I’m home more.
I love that you did a whole week on cloth diapers!
I wish you had also rated “durability” – diapers don’t last forever and some are much easier to fix than others.
Also fit is SO subjective. I hope readers realize that the “overall fit” is just based on your experience and their kid could be a completely different shape. I have 2 girls and they both fit into completely different pocket diapers. The older one was chunky and Fuzzibunz fit great (front snapping) whereas DD2 is skinny and the FB didn’t fit at all, she does great in side snapping.
And if I were rating fit on the bummis super brite, I would definitely give 5 pins b/c it has fit both of my girls fabulously!
Amanda Bytheway´s last blog post…A New Addition to Our Family
I am choosing to use cloth diapers on my first child, due in September. Holy cow I didn’t expect it to be so hard. When my mom cloth diapered me there were only a few choices. Now it’s almost limitless. I have chosen to go with Bumkins wraps and am buying indian cotton pre-folds from the cheapest place I can find online. I chose Bumkins because they are high quality construction and have a vent in the back to prevent rash. Our local baby boutique carries them so I could pick them up and compare them to the other waterproof covers. They are the best quality. I am avoiding all in ones because of the incredible cost…and because I think that prefolds are much easier to get REALLY clean after baby messes. However, after this series of articles I may get a few all in ones for sitters. I can see how that would be much easier for someone who’s not ‘into’ cloth diapering.
I love the Thirsties diapers. They are so soft and super-absorbent. Thank you for the giveaway. I’m new to cloth diapering so I could stand to get some more diapers.
Wow! What helpful information for those of us who are new to cloth diapers! With my twins, I didn’t use anything but disposable diapers. This time around, I really want to try a “green” and healthy approach to diapering. Until now, I was overwhelmed by the number of products to choose from and all of the names of the various products. Now I have a guide to use to get started. Thanks!!
Wow! I have loved this week’s posts regarding cloth diapers. We used cloth diapers(Chinese prefolds) with my first daughter who is now 6. I also used Fuzzibunz covers. I loved them. We decided with our second that it was too much trouble. But after reading about it all again, I know with our third we will try it again. Thanks for all of the tips. I especially like how you twist the prefold! Brilliant! Love your blog!
Count me in the drawing!
My boys are potty trained but still wet at night, so I have been using knickernappies (pocket diaper) at night. I now wish that I had used cloth diapers instead of disposables all along. I would have saved so much money!
Our first child is two weeks old and we have been using cloth diapers since she came home from the hospital. We like KL0s because they are absorbent, adjustable, and didn’t rub against her bellybutton! We also have been using some prefolds and find them to be faster to use than we thought…
I have never used CD’s but would love to try them! I am excited about the fact that CD’s cause the toddler feel more wet and will help me potty train earlier.
We use Green Mountain prefold diapers and bummis covers right now and use snappis to keep them closed. I do have a couple of fuzzi bunz and 1 bum genius that I use at nighttime since they are SO convenient for middle of the night diaper changes. It is so easy and so rewarding knowing you’re doing something good for your baby, the environment & you’re wallet!! I wish I would’ve tried cloth with my first daughter!
I haven’t tried cloth diapers, but with one just out of diapers, one in diapers and one on the way, I’m really on the fence. I think my driving factor is the cost issue. I have a couple friends that really like BumGenius pocket diapers. Thanks for this informative session…it really was a great help!
This is a great giveaway! I currently use BumGenius 3.0 One Size. I really like that I could use them on my toddler (who refused to potty train) AND my 5 month old. I never have to buy another set in a different size.
Shirley´s last blog post…Secure the Fort
I don’t use cloth diapers but I figure if I can save money and the earth why not I’ll give them a shot………….
I love BumGenius AIOs. They’re trim, afordable, and simple to use. They’ve been the backbone of our stash for the last year. However, I just got my first organic this week and with the snaps, there may be a new favorite in our house!
I twittered about this contest @twirl601
I did not use cloth with my daughter who is two; however, we have purchased a few things in hopes of using cloth with my son. He was due today : ) – but came early, six weeks ago to be in fact. I am very nervous and intimidated to use the cloth diapers despite my little stash of supplies . I truely appreciate the time and effort expired for this post. You are inspirational. I am going to do this. Yes, I am. I have a few diapers here and I am going to do it. Happy Birthday Whitaker – we are doing cloth thanks to the Simple Mom!
Thank you so much for this post!!!
I have never used cloth diapering before. My husband and I currently have five children; two out of diapers (7 and 5 yrs.), one just finishing the diaper years (3 yrs.), and two still keeping me very busy with diapering (2 yrs. and 5 months old). I want to switch to cloth diapers because I want to be able to slow down and enjoy the whole experience of mothering, knowing that I’ve been a part of nurturing my little ones in a very natural, simple way. I actually wanted to use cloth with our firstborn, but was overwhelmed and unknowing with how to start, etc.
So, five children later….I’m going to make the switch…and if I can save some money too….well, that would just be the icing on the cake!
Thanks again!
We are in love with the BG AIO Organic OS. I grab these first whenever they are clean. I prefer snaps but I like the aplix as well. My favorite color is the ribbit also!

We use prefolds diapers with the Bummis Super Whisper Wrap. We just began using Thirsties covers and really like them. They’re even lighter than the Super Whisper Wraps, but just as secure. We’re starting to explore wool covers and have been pleased with Stacinators.
I have tried cloth off and on and have worked mostly with g diapers. I am finding though that the gdiapers will only last through one child as the velcro wears out. As for cloth I prefer the prefold mostly because I don’t like the urine smell to cover their entire diaper area. So I use prefolds folded in 3rds with a Bummis super snap cover. It works great!
At first our twins were a handful, going through diapers like crazy. Now that they are six months old and things have calmed down a bit, we think cloth may be the way to go. This series on them has been great.
Baby three is due at the end of August and I’d say we’re about 95% sure we’re going cloth this time. Why? 1-money, 2-another effort in out attempt to be green, 3-after reading some slightly scary stuff, I’m thinking it’s actually better for baby too. I’m leaning towards pockets. Does anyone have any experience with Crickett’s diapers?

I can’t stand the waste of disposable diapers or just about anything about them for that matter. Also I am trying to figure out ways to cut costs as I will be a stay at home mom.
I bought some prefolds for baby #1, but only used them a few times. They seemed such a big hassle and I switched back to disposables. I’m willing to try harder for baby #2 since you make it look not so bad.
Oh oh OH how wonderful is this giveaway! I wanted to do cloth diapering with my baby, but it was just too much money (especially when we know this is our last kiddo…). BUT, free!?!? That is super.
I use primarily FuzziBunz (one-size). I LOVE them. I love how easy they are. I love that even my husband is willing to use them!
For my newborn, I used Kissaluvs with Thirsties covers. I couldn’t believe how wonderfully they worked — they fit from day one.
As a supplement to my FBs, I also use some really nice prefolds with Thirsties covers. Not as easy as FBs, but still so easy and so effective.

One reason we are switching to cloth are the piles of stinky diapers that fill our garbage can each week. Two in diapers = our biggest trash filler.
I also wrote about the cloth diapering 101 series on my blog.

We currently use bumgenius and happy heinys and they both have things that are good (bg are cuter and have a slimmer profile, the velcro sticks really well, hh are the absorbant kings and come with an extra insert).
My husband and I are trying for our first child! I’m hoping to convince him to cloth diaper by having him read all the great posts you’ve made! It would be so fantastic to start our stash of CD so we can start saving the world and our wallets

I’m having my 2nd baby, and reading your posts about cloth diapers make it seem like it is actually a feasible option. Before I just assumed it would be way too much work. I’d be willing to give it a try.
We don’t have any cuteness happening with our (very basic) diaper system, but I love, love, love them nonetheless! We used a case of disposable diapers for both of the boys in the days following my recent C Section, thinking that they’d make life easier….but I HATED them! They exploded all the time, leaving my babies with those weird little balls all of the place. I was completely grossed out, and didn’t even finish the cases of pampers before returning to my trusty cloth. The one “luxury” diaper thing we got for both the babies, were the Disana wool soakers….wool diaper covers. They are so freaking adorable! And since they let the bum breathe, we deal with fewer rashes!

I would love to win one of these diapers to try. My husband and I had made a commitment to be more environmental friendly and also to cut cost when we can. We are already looking into these diapers and thinking of register small quantity for each type of diapers!!!

My favorite cloth diapers are FuzziBunz, at least that I’ve ever used. Your post for the Cloth Diaper 101 week are great and very informative! Thanks.
I have never used a cloth diaper, but I think the amount of money they will save is wonderful. All these posts have been very helpful in educating me about cloth diapers, and I would love to give them a try!
Wow, that’s a lot of entries, but awesome prizes! Right now, my 2-yr old and my 8-wk old can both wear BumGenius One Size, but I only have enough for 1 day with 2 sharing. I also like the Super Whisper Wraps & Thirsties cover I have for the baby. I just need more!

We have been using g-diapers with our 9 month old and LOVE them! Not only are they super cute but they are eco-friendly too! I have just started toying with the idea of using a prefold in the cover and would love to win some cloth diapers to try.

Thanks again for the great series of posts. I am a fan of Kissaluvs fitted diapers with Bummis Super Whisper Wraps. The snap closure verison are also nice. These were great when my boy was smaller. Now that he is a year I use mostly Bum Genius (my favorite) and some Kushies AIO (Just okay but cheap! Fine for when you are at home.) I also use Kushies diaper liners. They work great.
I just started cloth diapering this week. My husband is being laid off at the end of the month and I decided to cut my budget. I have 4 sons under 6, 2 are in diapers and 1 needs them at night. I was going through 100 dollars a month in diapers and pullups!! I love the cloth, I already do laundry everynight so what is one more load. They go on like a regular diaper, it is awesome, and it makes me feel good!!! I have tried bum genius, very nice, anew one called smarti pants, love em, and somrthing called haute pockets. They are all close, but I prefer snaps, they are easier in the laundry, no chance of snags. I encourage all to try it, I will never go back, and now I can afford to try for my girl
Hi,
I am very much interested to use cloth diapers for my 13 month old daughter simply because, its cloth and not plastic which touches her skin and she will feel much better on a daily basis with cloth diaper !!
I have used cloth diaper till 8 months, but due to carpet stains and lot of work i changed to diapers, now i feel i should nt have switched over
I feel its easy to use cloth diaper if you know the time when she pees or poos and clean it immediately and this also helps you keep an eye on the number of times she does them along with easy predictibility using cloth diapers
Great to read all your posts.

I’m using disposables for my 22-month-old, but would like to start using cloth as he’s getting closer to potty-training age. Multiple friends insist that he will train faster this way. (My older son was 3 1/2 before he was fully potty-trained.)
I do not use cloth diapers but always said I would give them a try when we had our own washer and dryer. Well we now have our own appliances and they are energy efficient! Now would be a great time to start. Also, I am wondering if you have any suggestions for cloth training pants?
We’re expecting our first and I believe in cloth diapers. I don’t want to fill up the landfill with disposables just because I wanted convenience. The cloth diapers look nice and I hear that there are less diaper rashes so I want to try them. Getting hubby onboard is going to be a bit more difficult.
I am very interested in trying cloth diapers for several reasons: help the envirnonment & hopefully save money. I haven’t had children in many years but my last child probably could have used them for his sensitive skin. I look forward to trying these on my daughter that we are adopting & hopefully our next one after that. THANK YOU for this site. I am still clueless but learning lots.

I’ve used all in one cloth diapers with my two children, and I intend to use them with our 3rd child due in August. I did not fare well with the pre-folds and covers. It was a bit too much hassle for me. The only other cloth diapers I have experience with are the All in Ones by Kushies. They run about $10 per diaper, which is a great price. I also feel like they clean well. I am curious about some of the other brands.
I used cloth with my firstborn son, and loved plain old chinese prefolds, Snappis, and Bummis wraps. I did buy some used WAHM produced AIOs (I’m so sorry; I don’t know the brand) that had a snap-in hemp liner (gosh, love the hemp), but those have worked much better on the toddler body, even though they are an all-sized diaper. With my 2nd, we had moving and a lot of life changes, so he has been in cloth a lot less, but we go back and forth between the AIOs and disposables. We are expecting #3 in about 6 weeks, and I’m excited to try out some new infant fitted dipes that I bought used, along with polarbabies wool covers that feel divine!
I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to comment seperately, but I also blogged about your giveaway, at this link

I have one baby — a 6-month-old, and have used only prefold diapers on her……unbleached Indian prefolds from CottonBabies, to be exact, with snappis. Why? CHEAP! But in addition to that, they are so simple to wash and dry, hold up well, get softer over time, and can be reused with future babies for even more savings! I even discovered a new “fold” yesterday for my prefolds — out of need — because the current size she’s wearing are too big for her. This fold lets allows them to fit as snug around the legs as disposables!
I use mostly prefolds on my guy, with a few BumGenius for the grandparents. This system works great. Prefolds take a little more learning, but once you’ve got them figured out, they’re not hard at all, and so cheap!
I love cloth diapering! We started just over a year ago, when our little ones were 26 months and 7 months. We use mainly unbleached prefolds with ProWrap covers- these are great, basic covers, made with double gussets, and contain messes quite nicely. We use Under the Nile organic fitteds for overnight with hemp doublers tucked in for added absorbancy, and a Stacinator fleece cover- my absolute favorite overnight combo!
Hi! Love your blog!!!
I’ve just recently started cding.
I’m pretty new to this all so I’m still trying to figure everything out.
I love pockets & aios they seem to be the easiest to use..I’m going to be starting to try Prefolds, soon here. I’m curious to try all that I can, when money allows. I’m trying to slowly build a stash, right now .
I have a few Spos easys and Happy Heinys…and I really like them, now that I’ve gotten the hang of it.
I’m hoping to eventually be able to switch over to cds,but right now I don’t have that choice.
Sposo Easys (aio) are one of my favorites right now, they are quick & easy to put on & take off (very much like a dispoable). I do wish that they dried faster ( I hang dry them in the house on a drying rack) though.
They are very absorbant too!! I haven’t had any leaks yet!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE bumgenius 3.0 diapers!!
