Welcome to day two of the Week of Giveaways! We start today with author David Moore, author and speaker (follow him on Twitter @dgemoore). He has a new book out that is perfect as a Father’s Day gift, so it’s just in time for those of you stuck on ideas.
It’s called The Last Men’s Book You’ll Ever Need, a tongue-in-cheek title based on a strong thread of sincerity. Moore is concerned about the overabundance of spiritual “how to” guides that fail to put enough emphasis on the sufficiency of Jesus. In this book, he combines wisdom and humor to touch on sensitive subjects men should think about, like the love of money and busyness.
It’s a Christian book, to be sure, but it’s not preachy – Moore writes in a Dave Barry-esque style that provides mental food for chewing, not sermons for yawning. My husband has been enjoying this book before bed, and I’ve been reading over his shoulder from time to time. My favorite chapter so far is “Don’t Blow Your Brains Out,” a short essay about the decline of quality reading material in everyday family’s libraries.
Each chapter stands alone, so you can skip around and read what interests you, or you can read it cover to cover. I highly recommend Moore’s book for the man in your life – especially if you’re short on Father’s Day gift ideas!
B&H Publishing is giving five Simple Mom readers a copy of The Last Men’s Book You’ll Ever Need!
