It was a really simple mobile from Ikea, a blue plastic star and 6 colorful little fishes with funny faces hanging down on strings from it. My baby loved it – he still does! It hangs down from the ligh bulb now in his room.

I loved my Bumbo seat! My other favorite item was a small baby blanket made out of the velour-like bumby material. It was handmade and only measures approximately 3X3 feet. It fit so nicely over a car seat and I could use it to cover up my girls without too much bulk. Now my 2 girls use them to carry their baby dolls around in. They washed up very well in the machine, no pilling. In fact, we just received an adoption referral for a little boy and I am having my mom make these blankets in baby boy colors.
An extra-cushy, oversized boppy pillow. It has seen me through nursing three babies and will pretty soon be prepped for #4!
On my first unofficial Mother’s Day (I was only about 8 weeks pregnant), my husband surprised me with the Kate Spade diaper bag I had been eyeing. He knew that I would go visit it in my favorite department store to see if it had gone on sale. It is very worn now but I love it and will probably use it when we have a third child
The SwaddleMe! Absolutely loved it. Give it as a gift for every shower!
A homemade blanket. That was very special.
A co-worker finished her very first knitting project in time for my second child. He loved his blanket and still sleeps with it every night even though he’s almost 6!
I received so many nice gifts, but I think my two favorites were a stuffed puppy that my son still plays with or the pack n play. Our son slept in that when he was first born, we’ve used it for both kids when we go camping, and I use it when we have extra little ones at our house.

Diapers- who can go wrong with diapers? And reusable cloth diapers are great burp cloths too (just don’t use them on both ends- keep them separated).
A snuggly blanket. This is my son’s favorite to this day.
I received so many nice gifts, but I think my two favorites were a stuffed puppy that my son still plays with or the pack n play. Our son slept in that when he was first born, we’ve used it for both kids when we go camping, and I use it when we have extra little ones at our house.
One of the best shower presents I’ve seen were plastic dividers for the baby clothes in a closet that had the sizes “newborn”, “3-6 mos”, etc. I thought it was a great idea to help keep all the baby’s clothes organized.
I received so many beautiful hand made blankets. They were such special gifts because I knew people put love into them! One person is deceased now, so it is a special remembrance.
By far my favorite recieved and to give is the Itzbeen Timer. It has 4 timers on it for diaper changes, feedings, sleeping, and one hat you can assign. It was a life saver when Zack first came home from the hospital.

My favorite shower gift was the stroller. It is something that we’ve used nearly every day for the last 14 months.
My favorite gift received was a gift bag containing: a flannel blanket with crocheted edging (which my friend did for me); specialty baby powder; homemade pumpkin bread; a humorous gift book (some kind of “lessons” about motherhood illustrated with animal photos – I forget); and a little hanging basket of potted greenery on the side. That was one thoughtful gift!
A small basket with a cloth insert to separate diapering items. I never asked for it but I use it every day. It is wonderful for carrying changing supplies upstairs, downstairs in the backyard, where ever and it looks nice too.
A notebook that the host of the shower passed around the room for everyone to write in…they were writing notes for my son to read when he’s older. I’m excited to be able to show him how much he’s been loved & cared for since he was born.
The Swaddle-Me blankets were the best gifts EVER!!! Our little burrito baby slept like a rock as soon as he was wrapped up in one.

I love the cute but not practical stuff at baby showers! Like decorations for the room. Things I wouldn’t normally splurge on!

Homemade gifts are the most special. I’ve been fortunate to receive several adorable quilts and a few pairs of hand knit booties. So sweet!

Since I am pregnant with my first and have not attended too many baby showers, I would have to say my best gift is a Vera Bradley diaper bag my husband got me for this past Mother’s Day. I guess I hadn’t really thought of myself as a “mother” yet, but I was very excited to get it!
I think the best baby gift I got was from my husband’s aunt: a hand crocheted blanket, two swaddling blankets, and a copy of the Happiest Baby on the Block. It was a wonderful combination of love and practicality.
meals. cooked ready to go meals delivered after we are home from hospital. Best gift ever!
A bunch of cloth diapers!

One of the best gifts I received for my shower was a mirror for the car. It is SO nice to be able to see the baby while we’re driving!
I love my boppy. Really helped out, especially during those first few very trying weeks of breast feeding.
I received so many wonderful gifts it’s hard to say. There are 2 that come to mind: boppy pillow & travel system! The boppy has been such a help when nursing babies, especially during those first few months. The travel system we just couldn’t live without – infant carseat & stroller. Still use the stroller and LOVE it!
the best baby shower gift I recieved was two hand knitted blankets to go in my baby’s cradle. One was tan and the other was blue. the lady who made them is a very nice women who loves children. It was one of the nicest gifts.
My favorite gifts we received were already prepared meals.
a mommy journal – it’s great to have a place to write down a few funny things from the day or week. i love to look back and read about when the babies were younger…
the best gift i’ve received are homeknit booties that my grandmother made for my son to be.
Beka´s last blog post…Hank’s Birthday Party
Probably the stroller and the carseats. You have to have them!
And the Butt Paste! It saved my child’s rear in one use. I knew nothing when I had my first baby!
Swaddleme blanket for the first several weeks. It was so easy to use and difficult for the baby to wiggle out of it.
Hmm..I think the best gift I received was my Maya Wrap sling – used it everyday and have since lent it out to several friends! Need to get it back for this baby on the way…!
Best baby shower gift: a hand-crocheted blanket from my mom. She has carpal tunnel and hadn’t crocheted since I was in middle school, so I never even thought I would get one. Turns out she saved the last three blankets she made–one pink, one blue and one green–just for when my brother and I had our first children. I got the blue one for my son, and it is such a treasure!!!
Either the blankets my mom crocheted, the quilt my aunt put together from a top my grandma made before she passed away, or the bassinet that my hubby’s grandpa had made for their kids.

We received some beautiful crocheted blankets that have become my son’s favorites.
Cloth diapers! They have saved us a fortune and we are about to use them with baby #2!!!
The handmade blankets from my grandma, my aunt and my mom. Very loving made with lots of memories.

The best shower gift I ever received was a beautiful crocheted baby blanket from an aunt of mine. It was so soft, and my daughter still uses it today, and shes 6.
It may be boring, but Diapers! They’re so necessary and you go through so many. . .
My friend who had just had a baby gave me a whole bunch of necessities: a beautiful satin-edged blanket, a book, some herbal tea to promote lactation, and extra diapers.
Diapers were wonderful! They can be so expensive and receiving a big box of diapers at my baby shower was helpful. I love the hand made blankets I was given…they are so special.
Monogrammed burp cloths!!!
I went into labor at 12 weeks. I was 3 cm dialated and was due in late November. At 6 months I was 6cm dialated and in the hospital, unsure if I would make it to full term. My labor continued and my father gave me an opal necklace (birthstonme for October). I did carry full term and our son was born on November 17th! It remains a reminder of my father’s hope for our family. Our son is now 24 and over 6′ tall. He has a son of his own now and my father is very involved in his life.
My favorite shower gift was my babies carseat and stroller set! We use them everyday and its something our little one couldn’t live without!
I don’t have a little one of my own, but I love giving the mom to be their baby book!
I have received many nice gifts with each of my 4 kiddos, but I’m partial to the handmade or individualized ones.
A few months ago I found the most beautiful little white hooded sweater. It looked hand-made, and it was on sale for only $7!!! I bought three and gave them to my sweet friends as gifts…they all teared up when they saw them. Too precious!

I usually give hand-made flannel receiving blankets and burp cloths. People seem to love them. But the BEST gift I got at a shower was my rocking chair. It’s an old-fashioned style wooden rocker, and when my MIL brought it into the room at the shower she threw for me, I actually cried! I gave her a giant hug. And I don’t even like my MIL. Or hugging her.
A simple, homemade flannel blanket. My friend made it for me, then showed me how to make it. Two pieces of flannel with batting sandwiched in between. After we moved away it became my go-to shower gift when someone had a baby. It is easy to make, comfy, easily washable, and travels well.
I work at a fun little boutique in a very small town, and we get the cutest little unique gifts. I love finding one of a kind diaper bags and getting them monogrammed…I just think anything monogrammed is such a lovely, classy gift!
The best gift I ever received was 10 bags of diapers! They were my most used gift
I have two favorite shower gifts. One was a certificate to go make meals to freeze for after the baby came. I came home with 15 meals ready to go! The other was a baby blanket my grandmother had made for me when I was born. I had never even seen it before and my grandmother passed away almost 20 years earlier. It was so special to hang in my daughters room and see it each day.
My favorite to give is Honey for a Child’s Heart by Gladys Hunt. Get those babies reading right away!

The best baby gift I received was a night of free babysitting from one of my (college-aged) students. When my son was about 2 months old, my husband and I dressed up and went out on a date – something we hadn’t done in quite a while. It was wonderful!

Absolutely loved all the BOOKS we received as baby shower gifts. We outgrew all the clothes, but even now that my kids are toddlers, they still love and adore their books.
Probably the gift I was most excited about the second time around (i.e., when I knew what I was doing) was a storage bin. Our house value had dropped such that when baby #2 came along, our tiny 2-br condo was going to have to continue to work for us. With some careful rearranging, we could fit a toddler bed for our son, but there was no way we were going to be able to fit in another dresser. So we decided that we’d put a storage bin under the crib for the second “dresser.” With some consolidation, we’ve managed to keep all the clothes in one dresser and now have all of the baby towels and bathing supplies in the storage bin. Since we were trying very hard to limit our “stuff,” adding storage instead of more cute clothes was the best gift EVER!

My favorite baby shower gift was a homemade diaper bag made just for me by one of my closest friends. She was patient with me while we walked back and forth through the fabric store when I was about 5 months pregnant trying to find just the right fabric. And then she finished it early when complications caused me to need to deliver by emergency C-section at only 6 months.
Our baby girl has only been home for 6 days, but the diaper bag has already served very useful (and adorable!).
I made a diaper cake once for a friend’s baby shower — it was fun to make something pretty out of such a necessity!
My favorite gifts given were two blankets I made for a friend for her baby shower for her first baby! It was delightful to pick out the fabric myself and watch her eyes light up when she opened the gift!
My Favorite gift would have to the be the blanket my mom made it’s beautiful, soft, and made with love.
The best baby shower gift I received was a baby emergency kit…with infant medications (tylenol, motrin, gas drops, etc.), band aids, baby cotton swabs, and so forth. All the things I should have on hand but more than likely would have forgot to buy before baby!
I think my favorite gift to give is long sleeved onesies and The Super Baby Food book. I never followed the “diet” myself but the book is full of such helpful information. I was pretty clueless when it came to feeding my little ones solid food and this book was a lifesaver.
A small group of friends of mine gifted me with a baby book shower. It was a lovely way of sharing our mutual love of reading with my baby. I read & re-read those books to my daughter and she still remembers many of those stories I read to her as a baby/little girl. Books make a lifetime of memories with your baby as you snuggle together turning the pages.
Homemade Blankets and Books were my favorites. There’s nothing like cuddling a little one in a blanket and reading a book to them.
homemade burp cloths!

My favorite gift was a simple taggie blanket (think that’s what you call it) with an elephant head. My little Jude is 3 months old and loves to hold and NURSE the elephant’s nose.
It works better than a pacifier. He falls right to sleep. Ha! Ha! It always makes me smile.
The favorite gift I gave was a diaper cake I made that included all kinds of things! I loved making it, and was happy with how it turned out. It was the hit of the shower!

The best gift was the shower itself–my in-laws put it on during a family reunion! And they did it all while my husband and I were out, so we didn’t even set up or anything. What a great gift!

the best gift I ever received were pairs of robeez and jack & lily soft sole shoes. i loved them on my oldest daughter and have bought several pairs for my new baby daughter!
My best shower gift was a rocker that has been used with all 5 children and now awaiting for the arrival of our 6th baby in September!! It has been a family treasure!!
supplies – diapers, wipes, wash cloths…the things that you need everyday!
My cousin sent me a baby blanket that my grandmother had made for her son 20+ years ago. Both her son and my grandmother had passed away, so it brought tears to my eyes to receive something that connected me to the two of them. It was the perfect gift, and I plan to continue passing it down through our family.
My favorite gift was a sling. I love wearing my baby.
My favorite baby gift I received was a hand-crocheted baby blanket in broomstick lace that my Grandmother made. I loved it and used it with all three of my boys. I gave it to a DIL when my GS was born; they divorced shortly thereafter, and she took the baby away, and we have not seen him since. Maybe she will keep the treasured blanket for him as a piece of his heritage
The homemade baby quilt my MIL made!
I once gave a certificate for two “one of those days” dinners. All she had to do was give me two hours notice, and I would bring her dinner. It made me feel like I was really giving something that my friend could use, especially with three kids!
I love to make a gift basket full of essentials. Diapers, diaper rash cream, baby wash & lotion, hangers, baby proofing items, bibs & burp cloths, a cute outfit or a sweet blankie or lovie. I pack it all into a hamper or a storage bin that can be used later.
Encouragement from moms who’ve “been there” before me!
Finger nail clippers…who knew babies come out with huge long finger nails, and the hospital didn’t have any clippers.
The best shower gift I received was my stroller!
My favorite gift was a baby blanket and burp cloth that my grandmother made for me and crocheted along the edge.
Two of the most incredibly soft blankies ever. My kids still carry them around.
I just recently received a handmade prayer sachet full of tiny slips of paper with prayers written on it. Our son is due inn 4-5 weeks and I know that the special prayers will benefit me more than a pack of diapers.:)
Our best gift was the Baby B’Air vest. We lived overseas when our daughter was born, so we were flying quite a bit. It made me feel so much better to know she was safer than just sitting in my lap without anything.
I loved all the practical stuff like diapers, wipes, and creams.
My favorite baby gifts have always been the homemade ones. Crocheted blankets, floor quilts, wall hangings. If someone puts that much effort into a gift it just means a little more to me. Same if I’m giving a gift. Make it homemade everytime.
I’d say the homemade blankets with our daughter’s name embroidered on them or the little lambie with her monogram. We didn’t know what we were having before she was born-so all this stuff came afterwards and it was a delight.
I think the best gift we’ve ever given besides throwing the shower was a Maclaren. Those strollers are just so awesome!
A Boppy Pillow – I used my cell phone to call my daughter ( who lives several states away) while I was standing on her front porch. I told her that I would get her a new Boppy and that she could either have me order it online, and have it shipped to her…or that I could pay for it at my store and have her husband pick it up at their store…or that she could just come to her front door, and I would hand it to her. She was so excited. We had kept our trip a secret. Her husband knew, of course, but we wanted to surprise her. I only planned on staying the weekend, but ended up being there for over 3 weeks!

A homemade blanket which my daughter almost loved to pieces. She was very attached to the blanket.
a beautiful handmade blanket that was made by my best friend
I have my first baby shower coming up…but one of my favorite gifts I gave to a friend was a little pink knit hat with flowers all over it.
A swing! We thought we’d never use one, but with our Bug being so fussy as a baby, it gave us a few minutes to rest
.
My favorite shower gifts were definitely things that were monogrammed, embroidered, or smocked. I hold them all very near as reminders of how quickly those days fly by!
My friend put together diaper changing baskets for the baby room and the living room, stocked with all the stuff one might need for a newborn. They came in handy and we still use the one in the living room every day!
a coffee mug with ‘yummy mummy’ written on the side!
mine was my best friend visiting from across the country.

From my mom, a hand-knit blanket that exactly matched the one I had and loved to pieces as a baby.
23 years ago, my Precious Mother in law Made me a whole Crib set INCLUDING Bumpers! It was gorgeous! She worked so hard for her FIRST GRANDBABY! She put so much love into that set, a comforter, pillow, curtains, bumpers, and even a diaper stacker. It was pink and lilac with little bunnies and it was just so adorable. My Mother in law passed away 12 years ago.. and MY daughter is having HER first baby in October.. I would love to be able to make her something like My mother in law did for me.. but unfortunately.. I don’t have the creativity Gene that Mom did..
That was THE BEST Gift EVER and I Miss her so much!!
Thank you so much for the Chance to win this adorable little Love Blanket!
