Summer Week of Giveaways: Flip Flops & Applesauce

This giveaway is closed.

The final giveaway for the week is from Chrissie of Flip Flops and Applesauce. She’s a talented artist and mama, and she’s created the most adorable coloring books.

My four-year-old daughter has thoroughly enjoyed each of these editions, and we even used the alphabet books as part of her pre-k home school curriculum. We created an alphabet train, tied each letter together with ribbon, and draped it along the wall.

We also create name art that she enjoys giving to her friends and family. The creative options are endless with Chrissie’s creative work!

I love the unique touches she’s put on her different drawings – I love the teacups in her counting book, and the “o” orange in the lowercase alphabet book.

Chrissie wants to give three Simple Mom readers four of her coloring books – the Uppercase ABC Coloring Book, the lowercase abc coloring book, Numbers 1-20 Coloring Book, and Nursery Rhymes Coloring Book.

To win, here’s how to enter:

Leave a comment at this post, answering the following question: What’s your family’s favorite arts-and-crafts activity?

The giveaway is open to anyone worldwide, and it lasts until this Sunday, May 31.

I hope you win! Thanks again for all your participation. Have a great weekend, and I’ll announce the winners from the week soon.

We love making animals and people out of horse chestnuts in the fall. Otherwise, melted crayons and waxed paper are great fun.

Just plain old coloring!

4 Charissa May 30, 2009 at 10:33 am

My daughter loves to color. Anytime she sees her artist’s pad, she asks for the crayons. We’re working on getting her to keep the crayons on the paper and not on the floor, the walls, the chairs, and her clothes. :-)

These are so cute!! We love to get a long roll of paper and spread out about 5 yards worth on the driveway. Then we get a cheap set of paints (washable, of course!) and the kids use brushes, hands, feet, leaves, whatever to paint a big mural. They prefer the Jackson Pollack style of spatter and throw, so they ususally turn out really neat.

66 Lisa May 30, 2009 at 1:22 pm

We love to paint the boxes they give you at Costco when you shop. We turn them upside down and make them into airports, frie stations, school houses, etc. Then my 3 year old plays with his match box cars with them for weeks… I threw one out recently and he was devastated… he just got a thomas train set for his birthday and he uses the boxes to create towns and tunnels… so cute…

It is fun to watch him imagine what it is going to be ont he way to the car – then we paint together – draw on them and then play with them. It makes me feel less guilty about just throwing them away…

Thanks to all the comment leavers – I LOVE these ideas!

67 Michelle Rulmont May 30, 2009 at 1:24 pm

89 Michelle in Canada May 30, 2009 at 1:58 pm

Our favourite artsy thing to do as a family is colouring. My husband can draw (and not just stick people). The kids are always asking “Daddy draw “this”.” This generally is one of the special people or pets in their lives. After drawing someone gets to colour the image he has drawn. After awhile, they’ll start drawing their own version of Daddy’s art work. It is so fun to sit around the table drawing and colouring with them.

90 Melinda May 30, 2009 at 2:09 pm

Not sure if we have a “favorite” art activity as a family, but since my boys are a little older (tweenager, pre-teen, and teenager), we really like anything to do with nature and science experiments!

94 dundee writer May 30, 2009 at 2:28 pm

Oooh, these look so fun! A very frameable coloring page!

Our favorite family craft activity is to cut apart our paper grocery bags and decorate with crayons, markers, stamps and stickers. The handles on the grocery bags make them easy to hang and display!

We had fun at the last birthday party making little pocket purses made from flet and glued with fabric glue. They glued on rhinestones and butterflies and we used ribbon for the shoulder strap. The girls had fun and they were cute!
