Welcome to the summer Week of Giveaways! Today we’re starting with Envirosax, one of my favorite reusable bag companies.
Envirosax helps protect the environment for tomorrow’s generation by providing an eco-friendly alternative to disposable shopping bags that have caused so much damage to the environment worldwide. Envirosax bags are lightweight, portable, waterproof and each one holds the equivalent of two supermarket plastic bags thanks to reinforced seams.
They’re inexpensive, compact, and darling. And they’re definitely strong – we have several of these bags, and even with all their use, they look brand new.

Envirosax wants to give two different Simple Mom readers one bag from their Organic Series. They are manufactured from natural materials, including viscose from bamboo, linen, and a fine grade hemp. The bags come with their own little pouch for easy storage in a glove compartment or handbag.
Envirosax Organic Series bags are printed with vegetable based inks and are all packaged a recycled cardboard box that has been printed with organic soy-based waterless inks. A great gift idea!
To win a bag, here’s how to enter:
Leave a comment at this post, answering the following question: What’s one new thing you plan to do this year to be a more eco-friendly family?
The giveaway is open worldwide, and it lasts until this Friday, May 29. I’ll draw the two winners this weekend.
I hope you win! Check back in a few hours for another giveaway.

I am eliminating paper towels and using washclothes. Guests think I’m nuts, but we’ve gotten quite used to it. I do keep one roll hidden under the sink to cover reheating food in the microwave, but that’s it!
We plan to start composting. And, next year, after our new puppy is a bit more mature, we’d like to start a small garden in the backyard.
I started to collect rain water for my flowers and garden.
Thanks.
We are composting!
We are trying to recycle more and use more reusable products.
Shannon´s last blog post…Menu Plan Monday
We use cloth napkins and kitchen towels, buy second hand when we can can, and limit our driving by trying to combine errands or walking.
We are using cloth napkins and reusable shopping bags (of course!)
The one thing we are doing this year is no more bottled water. I now have a water faucet filter and can drink tap water. Thank you!
several things…cloth diapers, compost bin, small veggie garden….and i own a hybrid car but have for a few years..
I am switching from paper napkins to cloth. And, because my friends say that my napkins are beautiful, I’m making some for them. You see? It is not just me… with my gifts I can help others to be more green.
I plan to set up a compost bin, purchase locally grown produce weekly, and walking or biking for simple errands instead of driving.
We already do a lot, but I’d like to try growing greens in our apartment window, and maybe a few outside on the step.
We just planted a garden and will visit our local farmers market more often this summer!
I have only discovered your site yesterday and have added it to my daily reading list
My big plan for the next year or so is to purchase a vehicle that is more environmentally friendly that the old one I drive now!

We are switching to all cloth napkins, all the time. All those leftover baby washcloths work surprisingly well for kid sized napkins too! Any I’m trying to get into the habit of using my reusable shopping bags for more than just groceries, like when I go thrifting, or to the drugstore. I always seem to forget them on the smaller errands.
We plan to grow some of our own food, to reduce packaging consumption and the environmental impacts of shipping food. We also will be visiting the Farmer’s Market for frequently.
My husband and I have made a commitment to carpool at least twice a week. It’s a start! We also joined a community garden to grow our own vegetables and plan on giving any surplus to a local food bank.
We are trying some eco-friendly, natural laundry soap made by a SAHM and sold on Etsy – good to support another mom, the earth, and my son.
Turning off the lights when we’re not using them. It is so easy to accidentally leave them on, and yet makes such a difference in saving energy when we turn them off.
We have gone from two vehicles to one this year. Also, I am cutting back on harsh cleaning chemical, using more baking soda, etc.
We just purchased energy efficient washer and dryer. I also plan to be better about buying locally rather than driving long distances to do warehouse shopping.
When our electric lawn mower died a couple weeks ago we decided to replace it with a push reel mower. It’ll be better for the environment and my waistline
We are staying home more, reusing our bags, growing some veggies and buying local produce. We are recycling more and reusing what we can around the house.
This year I am recycling my cardboard and starting a compost bin.
klutzymama´s last blog post…I’m Resorting To Trickery
I have started using reusable bottles for my water, we have stopped buying soft drinks (so no more cans and plastic bottles!), we have planted a garden, and are packing lunch in our Laptop Lunch Boxes rather than eating on-the-go (no more throw-away food wrappers/containers). These seem like small things – but they are new additions to the things we already do – recycling, watching our energy consumption, being more conscious of what we purchase and why, using reusable shopping bags, etc.
RLR´s last blog post…"I Despise This"
We’re cutting back on paper towel usage (with 2 puppies, we’re still using them occasionally). We’re recycling more and always use re-usable bags. Also, paper napkins are being phased out…
Candy M´s last blog post…Happy National Scrapbooking Month!
We are trying to recycle as much as possible! I’m also trying to use the few bags we do have when we go grocery shopping and stop getting plastic bags at the grocery store. I’m also going back to Cloth diapers this week!!
Donna S´s last blog post…Icecream everywhere!
I’m trying to cut down on packaging by buying more things in bulk (with reusable bags/containers) and even make more foods that I generally buy prepared (like hummus, yogurt, etc). Thx!
brigita´s last blog post…The UnUpdate
We’re using water from our rain barrel more.
I’ve already started using re-usable bags. I’m sick of the plastic ones! I would love to win one of these, because I wanted to get one anyway!
Allison´s last blog post…4 years ago….
We’re planting our own veggie garden, moving to making our own household cleaners, and aiming to recycle even MORE than before…
The grocery stores in our town have all switched to charging for grocery bags, hoping that people will bring their own. I already do my best at bringing my own bags. Having a reusable bag (like the envirosax) to throw in to your purse for emergencies would be great! I’ve also purchased a water bottle (made out of aluminum) that I will carry around with me and refill whenever it’s empty. I also hope to be able to open my windows as much as possible this summer and not have to run the AC. Every little bit counts!
I definitely try and remember to bring reusable bags when I go shopping, and I would love to have more. Envirosax are great! I am also trying to be more diligent about composting, reducing household garbage, and buying products with less packaging.
We are going to be buying some of our food from the CSA this year, for the first time. We are really excited about getting local food! And as always, we will also be trying to get most of our produce from the local farmers market.
I have recently purchased a home after renting for 2 years following a divorce. I can finally compost again and plant herbs and vegetables. I will definitely be decorating with recycled furniture. I am also planning to make this house as energy efficient as possible. I has new replacement windows and a new furnace so will be looking for ways to insulate.
I hope to start shopping at the Farmer’s Market- this week!
This year I plan to buy more local food, use less plastic (bags, bottles, etc.) and continue to cloth diaper.
We are going to get (finally) a recycling sorter, so that I’m not tempted to throw away stuff because I don’t have a place to put it!
Thanks for the giveaways!
Amanda´s last blog post…Extended breastfeeding, Part II
We are living without a car this year, which really isn’t a problem in an urban center with great public transport, using reusable shopping bags, and drying clothes on a drying rack instead of using the dryer.
These changes are conveniently all a result of moving overseas. That’s just the way things are done here in Buchurest, and so it fits naturally into our lives.
The military is sending us overseas this summer to a place we can’t bring our cars. Instead of buying two new ones, we’re thinking about buying one and then a motorcycle/scooter for my husband to go back and forth to work.
Also, we’re having a baby late this year and we’ll cloth diaper once again.
We are growing as much of our own food as we can, and would love to pick up some cloth napkins somewhere, just have to find them on a garage sale or somewhere they are not so expensive.
We have a vegetable garden for the first time ever and got a flock of 14 chickens for eggs. Also, now that we live somewhere without garbage pickup, it has encouraged us to recycle as much as possible, give away or burn what can’t be recycled, and only throw something away if we absolutely have to.
Steph´s last blog post…Our Five Year Plan
We are riding our bikes more around town. It makes for a great family day and my hubby & I get good exercise while the kids enjoy riding in the bike trailer.
My eco-friendly plan–to give reusable bags as gifts to those I love for birthdays! I use mine all of the time and when they are snazzy looking, fold up compactly, and are super strong they are HARD to beat!
Hmmm…well each of our kiddos have come up with one way they are willing to help our family become more eco-freindly. My dd 10, is in charge of composting, ds 5 is in charge of recycling, dd 3 helps the two older siblings and loves to ride her bike everywhere we can, dd 5 months is breastfeeding and is clothed diapered:)
What a great giveaway, thank you:)
We are implementing a schedule for electrical usage. If possible, high drain items are turned off during the day.
Bike it on weekends this summer. Put the car in the garage on Friday after work and then ride a bike around until the workweek begins.
We are eating local as much as possible and almost no processed food.
We are using cloth rags, taking the bus to work and installing timers on lamps. We are also learning how to garden our own food and herbs.
We’re planting a vegetable garden today!
re purposing things we already have instead of tossing or replacing them.
Lee-Ann´s last blog post…We need bees
My husband will be walking downtown to work and ironically it’s my new goal this year to stop using plastic grocery bags!
We compost and have been using rain barrels, we bought some re-usable bags but this year need to get better at using them more often.
We recycle all of our cardboard, plastic, glass and now our plastic bags!
This year we will be selling eggs from our chickens at our local farmer’s market – We hope to barter whatever summer produce needs that our garden will not provide – Eat and shop local
My family’s eco-friendly goals for this year are to start a worm compost bin so we aren’t using the disposal as much and clean the air vent for the dryer so that it operates as effieciently as possible when I have to use it. I’d also like to reduce our use of paper towels and napkins.
We have just started using a compost bin for our kitchen scraps, etc.
I’m trying to get better about taking a cloth bag into the store with me. I remember to do so at the grocery but when I go to other stores just to get a few items I usually forget.
We are going to use cloth/reusable bags when we go shopping. We recycle aluminum cans.
Well, one of our goals for this year was to start a compost bin. My sweet husband worked on it and finished it two weeks ago! I hope to have beautiful, rich compost in a few weeks.
This year we have planted our own vegetable garden! We have planted corn, beans, carrots, pumpkin, zucchini, broccoli, and spinach. So far we have harvested some beans and boy were they good!
I joined an e-commerce company called Shop to Earn and they have an earth friendly side. This has allowed me great exposure to over 100 earth friendly websites where I have purchased some amazing products. Over the next year, I plan to continue to get more and more familiar with these products and how they can benefit our family AND the environment! Shop Green!
I have planted my own garden this year for the first time in a few years. I am looking forward to having fresh vegetables to eat and freeze!
We are (trying!) to grow a garden & we have reusable shopping bags (if we can remember to get them out). I’m also introducing cloth napkins instead of paper towels.
We will be part of of Cooperative Shared Agriculture group getting organic fruits and veggies, we cloth diaper so far two children and we will have another in September, we plan on composting all our veggie scraps this year. I started recycling the easy stuff my garbage service picks up, but I am trying to do a once a month drop off for glass because they don’t take that. And we will be doing nature study this year in our homeschooling. Now I’m beginning to see why so many of my friends call me their granola friend. I usually say, well making your own granola is so yummy. Thanks for the giveaway.
Adriana
we have started to use the reusable bags and are getting much better about taking them with us and using them. The only problem I am having is that some of them are starting to rip (to start off with we just bought the cheap ones). We are about to complete the switch to CFL’s. I am working on getting my son potty trained so that will be less diapers in the landfill. We are also saving up to buy HE wash and dryer. We are also trying to cut down on our use of paper towels.we are slowly but surely making changes.
I’ve been becoming more and more eco-friendly over the last year or so. The lastest thing we have been doing is trapping rain water for our garden. Now, if only I could get my husband to take shorter, cooler showers.
We’ve switched to cloth napkins instead of paper for meals at home.
We plan to get a rain barrel to use to water our vegetables and flowers.
Reduce wasted water!
I’m having my very first garden this year.
I plan on using cloth diapers for my daughter. I just need to order them!
Goals – start composting and switch over completely to reusable bags. I have 4 grocery bags.
Our family will be making the change to cloth diapers. After seeing all the diapers we consumed with my son over the past two years, we decided to use cloth diapers with our daughter who is now four-months-old.
Lynnette´s last blog post…Spring Cleaning Party (Continued)
I plan on recycling more. Believe it or not, my family just started recycling a couple months ago. Prior to that, we collected alluminum cans and took them to a local recycling center, but we threw away all our plastic, paper and other recyclables. The amount we just threw out was ridiculous!
We are beginning to use recycled bags. I’ve started with 4, already. Also, we have been cutting back on water and electricity usage. I would like to compost also.
This year we are just striving to be more conscious. Flipping light switches to off when leaving rooms, unplugging unused appliances, turning the thermostat up a few degrees. Small changes make big differences. We already compost, collect rain water, recycle, drive fuel-efficient cars, use reusable grocery bags, etc.
This year, we’re trying to use cloth napkins and rags rather than disposables. We’re also trying to reduce waste by repurposing and recycling items.
We’re going to start composting. Our vegetable garden will benefit so much and we’ll reduce our trash. Just have to get started!
We plan on having more picnics so we use less electricity cooking and cleaning.
I would love to shop at a farmers market and stop buying so much processed food!
Teresa´s last blog post…Swagbucks Giveaway!
I began our 1st trash can compost bin in April and I send out a compost journal newsletter to about thirty other ladies who are interested in trying to compost. I share what I am learning and hope to help someone else along from my experiences. I also share my gardening tips with the same ladies who are mostly beginning gardeners. Love your web-site!
my husband hung a clothsline so that i could dry our laundry outside spring, summer, and fall. i’m excited to save electricity and enjoy the fresh air scent left on our clothes.
We’ve done a lot to work on this as a family–no more paper towels, for example. My next tackle is napkins. I’ve been hitting the garage sales looking for fun colors and designs–for cheap!
This year we are making a concerted effort to use the recyclable bags we have (none as stylish as the envirosax) on all grocery shopping trips as well as our farmer’s market trips this summer. We are trying to eliminate usage of the plastic bags which are ending up in the prairies and ocean – yuck.
Hopefully this isn’t posted twice. Something happened to my computer and I don’t see it on here. Anyway, my comment was basically that it’s funny you should ask because I was just thinking to myself the week or so that when I get back to the States, this summer, I want to buy some reusable bags. I hope I win so it will save me some money. :>)
Also, I try to be more conscious of how much water I use and save that.
We are starting to take 2 minute showers. We also installed the Kill a watt anazlyer that tells you how much energy appliances use. We have installed power strips on the cd player and computer. We also are keeping our reusable bags in the trunk so we use them everywhere, not just at the grocery store!
I just bought some cloth napkins off of Etsy that I am excited about. I also plan on going back to my cloth diapers to be more environmental and frugal.
Jessica Brammer´s last blog post…Finding Favor with Every Man
One thing we are doing this year is planting our own vegetable garden! This will hopefully help us to buy less veggies that have been transported from all over the world and teach my kids how things grow!
I am working on doing more and more homemade foods, fewer boughten cleaners, reviving my composting and being more conscientious about energy waste. I am also trying to make sure I use the attic fan more and the AC less.
I’m already building my vegie patch ready for planting in spring (I’m in Australia) I had one at our previous house, but missed my home grown veg last year as we moved house with a garden readyvto harvest (lucky buyers!) and I’ m only now- after a year of gardening- managed to clear enough space for a vegie patch as the garden was a little overgrown!
We are trying to do without paper towels and napkins and using the cloth variety.
Marci@OvercomingBusy´s last blog post…Ways to observe Memorial Day
We planted a garden! Hooray!
I’m trying to cut down on grocery bag use. I now have 3 reuseable bags; more would always help!
The one new thing we plan on doing is to fill up the sink when we wash dishes and not to let the water run. I then could save alot of water & money all at one time.
Thanks
We are going to cloth diaper our new baby.
we’re growing some herbs, and I want to compost, use cloth napkins for all meals, buy primarily from thrift stores & garage sales.
we’re pretty serious about the garden this year. we’ve expanded to 2-100 sq ft. plots, plus some extra space around the house, and a raspberry patch. no packaging for the food you pick from your garden! and, of course, we’re using organic methods.
anja´s last blog post…Bike and Bus with Kids
We all ready hang our laundry on a line (we don’t own a dryer!) I use mostly cloth bags for shopping, I try to recycle, but is hard to find the right person to get glass and plastic bags to where I live. Mostly I would like to use less water. We wash our dishes by hand (no dishwasher) so I don’t want to let the rinse water running.
For mother’s day, my husband built me a cedar clothes line. Hanging clothes out to dry is one chore I adore…takes me back to my backyard growing up on our tiny farm. Lucky for me, its a great way to be more eco-friendly too. My kids love to play in the cool shade of the sheets while they’re drying, creating a new generation of a love for the clothesline!
