This giveaway is closed.

Welcome to the summer Week of Giveaways! Today we’re starting with Envirosax, one of my favorite reusable bag companies.

Envirosax helps protect the environment for tomorrow’s generation by providing an eco-friendly alternative to disposable shopping bags that have caused so much damage to the environment worldwide. Envirosax bags are lightweight, portable, waterproof and each one holds the equivalent of two supermarket plastic bags thanks to reinforced seams.

They’re inexpensive, compact, and darling.  And they’re definitely strong – we have several of these bags, and even with all their use, they look brand new.

Envirosax wants to give two different Simple Mom readers one bag from their Organic Series. They are manufactured from natural materials, including viscose from bamboo, linen, and a fine grade hemp. The bags come with their own little pouch for easy storage in a glove compartment or handbag.

Envirosax Organic Series bags are printed with vegetable based inks and are all packaged a recycled cardboard box that has been printed with organic soy-based waterless inks. A great gift idea!

To win a bag, here’s how to enter:

Leave a comment at this post, answering the following question:  What’s one new thing you plan to do this year to be a more eco-friendly family?

The giveaway is open worldwide, and it lasts until this Friday, May 29.  I’ll draw the two winners this weekend.

I hope you win!  Check back in a few hours for another giveaway.

I’m not sure how we are going to be more eco-friendly this year other than the fact that I’ve become much more conscience about waste, try to reduce and reuse more than I ever have in the past. The envirosax could help me along in reducing the amount of icky plastic bags I bring home.

avatar Angie

We’re attempting to compost this year, using the do-it-yourself compost bin I found on Simple Mom, of course!

avatar Emma @ Baby-log.com

We are planning to install one of those analyzers that tells you what electrical appliances consume/waste the most of your electricity and once we’ve got the culprits re-think and reduce our usage of power. We are also planning to support a project of renewable energy – they want to install a couple of wind turbines and I think it’s a great idea.

I would like to use the car less each week to save on fuel usage. O and keep trying to remember to take a larger bag out shopping although I already use as few plastic bags as possible.

avatar Jessica R.

We are trying to use cloth diapers and reusable kitchen towels more. Always trying to recycle what we can. These would be a great addition in our quest to reduce.

avatar Kylee

We’re moving to a combination cloth/disposable wipe system rather than just disposables and also building a chicken coup so we can have our own eggs and fertiliser and a place to throw kitchen scraps etc.

avatar steadymom.com

These look great! Now that our kids are getting a little bit older (6, 4.5, and 4) it’s more important than ever for us to explain the importance of recycling and minimizing waste to them. I feel more aware of it now that I know they are watching (even though we always recycled before).

We use re-usable shopping bags and walk or take public transportation most everywhere. We’re also recycling all paper, plastic, and glass that we can.

avatar Sherri (Serene Journey)

Hi Tsh,
These bags are beautiful! We plan to try living “off the grid” one day a week during the summer. I first saw this idea on five cent nickel via Frugal Dad. Basically for one day a week we’ll flip the breakers and live without power (except for the fridge and freezer). It’ll be good for the environment and allow us to spend more time outside together as a family. I’m looking forward to giving it a try :)

We are moving back to a first world country so I am hopeful we can again recycle and buy recycled products.

We’re working on edible landscaping for our yard. Beautiful foliage, plus we grow our own food!

We’ve also stepped up our recycling efforts.

avatar Lori

We are going to be more intentional about buying products locally at the market, the local butcher’s and at the various farms near and around our home.

avatar Anne

I am a fairly new reader of your blog, but I love it and visit often! We have made huge changes in our household over the past few months to be more eco-conscious. We have given up paper towels and paper napkins and use cloth and rags for every purpose. We have stopped buying stuff that is overpackaged and buy secondhand whenever possible. I use only vinegar and baking soda to clean. Just this weekend my husband finally started our compost pile. Yay! We are on our way!!

avatar Elizabeth

I want to stop using paper towels and paper napkins and start using cloth.

avatar Tara H

We are not buying water bottles anymore. For a family of six, that is going to add up!

avatar Eleanor

I planted drought tolerant plants and am working on reusing bags for the grocery.

avatar Laine

We are going to be using cloth diapers when baby #3 arrives soon!

avatar Jessica

We are going to make sure we use our re-usable grocery bags ALL the time, not just some of the time.

avatar Karin

I’m working on remembering re-usable bags when I go to the market here in Malaysia….I think this country is a HUGE user of plastic bags…they are everywhere! And every purchase involves multiple bags for each product – tomatoes in one bag, etc… So I’ve just been made so much more aware of this and am trying to get back into the habit of taking bags now that we’re settling in more to our new country.

avatar Valerie R.

This is our first year of composting. The hardest part has been trying to get the kids to remember not to just throw out their apple cores and citrus peels. They’re catching on though, and I feel better about having less trash.

avatar sbc

No more plastic water bottles for us! Biking MUCH more. Eating locally (at least for the summer because the rest of the time it’s almost impossible.) Upping thermostat.

avatar Carrie

We have cut way back on using paper products; using cloth napkins and real plates instead. We also just started a compost bin last week! And we are planting our very first square foot garden today!! I’m very excited about the small changes we’ve been able to make. :) And thanks for the great giveaway–the bags sound really nice!

avatar Jaime

We use reuseable bags to go to the store, we also do not buy bottled water. Love the bags!

avatar Lori in IN

This year I want to try the compost bin you featured earlier. I am excited to try this for my garden. I’m also going to try to make my own cleaning products to be friendlier to the environment.

avatar AnnMarie

I will be using the sun to cook! Today, I’m using our solar oven for the first time. I intend to use it at least once a week (I work outside the home, so not sure I can use it on weekdays).

avatar Gina

We are using re-usable bags and recycling in our family. By the way… my sister loves your website and she could use your help since you have so many people viewing your blog. She recently applied for a summer job blogging about her adventures along the Delmarva Coast (Ocean City, Maryland) and if your fans could vote for her, that would be very much appreciated. In return, we will write a post about your Simple Mom website on our blogs!!

One of the frustrating things I’m feeling these days is that with the economy and our already eco conscious lifestyle I find that we’ve already made so many of these changes – so now we have to go further. We already have been using our own bags at the market and for activities, we’ve never bought plastic bottles, but fill a reusable bottle to take each day. We’ve become more careful about how many trips to town we take in a day! The list goes on and on.

What we have done is expand our home garden and will see what we can do to save our produce for the winter, canning, freezing or dehydrating. That’s this years focus.

This year we’re using a worm composting system! Great educational tool for the kids, as well as reducing our rubbish considerably.

I think it’s so cool that this contest is world-wide. Yea, world!

avatar Christy

We are moving in about 4 weeks to a much larger house. I am planning on furnishing a majority of it using 2nd hand items from Craigslist. No packaging and less to the landfill as I re-purpose items. (also much cheaper!)

avatar Anna

I love the bags-and that they are small enough to tuck away, so I remember them. This year, I am trying to unplug appliances that aren’t in use and turn off the computer at night.

avatar Jessica

This year we’re trying to reduce the amount of energy we use at home. We’ve managed to have our thermostat turned up a few degrees more this summer, leading to the air running less. We’ve been brainstorming ideas to make the rest of our house more energy efficient.

I LOVE my envirosax that I already have. I get complements on them every time I shop and could use a few more.

Each year, I am learning a little bit more about organic gardening and expanding the foods we grow ourselves just a little bit.

avatar Alicia

We started a worm compost bin to take decrease our waste a bit. And it’s a fun learning tool for the kids!

Thanks for the great giveaway!

avatar Brandy

We are attempting to compost this year. It has greatly reduced the amount of trash that our family produces. It takes forever to fill up the compost bin though.

avatar jaime

We moved when I was very pregnant, and never started recycling, so I plan to do that this year. I’ve also started carrying reusable bags to the store, but they aren’t as cute as these!

avatar Melanie

- We rent a garden near our appartement to grow some vegetables (there also six appletrees and cherries and plums growingl, so we get our own juice!!). The rental for the garden is very cheap (only 150 Euros a YEAR).
- Do my own Cleaning products and using soap nut shells for the laundry.
- No more plastic bottles
- Make my own yoghurt
- Potty training our youngest (her idea :o ), so perhaps no more diapers in our home :o )))
- Using the dryer less often

Greetings form Germany and thank you for this lovely giveaway!

avatar Sacha

We are installing a compost bin, trying to buy local produce as much as possible, and planting vegetables. I am also trying (somewhat unsuccessfully so far) to convince my husband to get rid of our lawn in favor of something much easier on the environment AND us, like native species groundcover and edible plants. I would like to install rain barrels too.

Yay for Envirosax!

avatar Mendy McIntire

This summer we are learning about and will be implementing organic alternatives for keeping our garden pest-free.

avatar Kat

I’ve been trying very hard to become more eco-friendly over the past year, but I know I have a ways to go. My biggest one is that I’m going to find our local recycling center and start recycling. I’ve become very aware of how much we throw out that could be recycled and it makes me a little sick. I would put this sack in my purse so that I always have a reusable bag with me.

Kat´s last blog post…Memorial Day

avatar Sherry

We just installed a tankless hot water heater which reduces water use as well as gas consumption.

As far as cleaning, we are switching to all “natural” products for cleaning i.e. vinegar & making my own laundry soap of enviroment friendly products.

I am happy to share my commitment with SM in hopes it will keep me accountable! :)

avatar Julia

This is the year that I’m finally giving up paper towels and Swiffers and all that. We’re moving to microfiber dusting towels and a microfiber mop, which actually work BETTER, I’ve discovered. Who knew? I’d love some of these reusable bags!

Julia´s last blog post…Bounty

avatar Therese

We are eating at home more rather than driving to restaurants, and bringing our lunch to work in reusable bags.

avatar Lori

We are slowly but surely eliminating paper towels from our life. I have washclothes to wipe my toddlers’ faces after meals, and cut up a bunch of rags to use for cleaning.

My friend has an Envirosax bag and I have Enviro-envy! Would love one of my own. :-)

avatar nicole

We’re getting our first CSA delivery this week. Can’t wait to taste these local foods and we’re happy to be supporting a local family farm.

avatar Hannah Paddock

I would love to win one of these bags, as my new goal is to only use reusable bags while shopping. There is a local farmers market near my home, and one of these bags would be perfect to shop with as I pick out fresh veggies and fruit. What a great giveaway!

avatar Rachel

I would like to use cloth napkins. I already started using washcloths instead of paper towels…and I’ve discovered that I can live without them :)

avatar Mistress B

We are planning on reducing our use of packaging by buying products with less packaging and also buy buying in bulk. And simple things like using tea leaves instead of tea bags, making foods from scratch and makign sure to store foods properly.

We are starting a compost pile!

There’s only two of us in our one-bedroom apartment, and so we’re going to turn the AC off more often and sleep with just a small fan going – saves money and energy!

avatar Jenny

I really enjoy your blog. We have stopped useing paper towels, and reusing grocery bags.

avatar Krista

We use non-toxic cleaners, and we use cloth napkins and rags… no paper towels. My goal is to work on remembering to bring cloth bags with me to do my shopping… I always remember that I forgot… at the checkout. :( These bags would help the cause! :)

avatar lisa

We have started vermicomposting. So far, it’s been great! I was a bit reluctant when my husband (and 4 yr old son) put in the order for a POUND of worms, but so far it’s been a blast. I’m turning into the worm lady. The worms eat our various kitchen scaps and we throw away less. My son gets to watch (under our supervision of course) and learn about worms. Soon we’ll have some worm tea and compost for our garden. It’s great!

avatar Keara

Our grocery store has the easy shop system where you scan and bag your own groceries as you go. SO I have 2 of the grocery stores reusuable bags and a soft sided cooler bag that I put the groceries in. But then for all the produce you have to weigh and then print a tag for to scan… I skip the plastic produce bag and put the tags on the back of my grocery list and scan them there.

avatar Diane

We are planning to bike to the pool this summer instead of driving!

avatar Dolly

Honestly, I really want to start using re usable shopping bags. I only have one right now. (not counting our three huge costco ones which are completely unpractical for everyday trips to the grocery store) I would be super excited to win this!!

We are composting this year and switching to organic/natural yard care products.

avatar Ashley

Acutally, one of the things on my list is reusable sandwich bags. I’m goign to take my grocery bags to store other then just the grocery store too. Thanks for the chance to win.

avatar rachel

We are working on composting and organic gardening. It’s fun!!

avatar Rebecca

Hi
I’d love to win this!

This year, I’ll be making a composter and will be starting a bokashi bin as well, hopefully later in the summer.

We are gardening this year, and I would love to set up a compost pile to supplement that. It’s on my list to read and research on!

avatar Shelley

We set up a compost bin near the garden this year. We are also trying to be greener about the way we care for our lawn and garden, trying not to rely on chemical solutions to weeds and pests.

avatar Jill

We are in the process of starting a compost bin in our backyard for our gardens. We are also trying every non-chemical way for pest control possible.

avatar SHARLA COLLINS

I’ve just started using reusable bags, and sometimes I forget to bring them. I’m going to focus on remembering to bring them, and try to eliminate using plastic bags!

avatar Meagan

I have been trying for a while to get in my sewing room and make some reuseable bags. It seems though that I just never have enough time to do my own sewing, I am so busy sewing for other people our being a mom! I found a pattern awhile ago on a website that uses the pattern of a plastic grocery bag, but completely lined. I have then modified it so that it has a flat bottom.

avatar Shirley Rempel

We are moving into the small town where my husband works, so we will use far less gas, therefore cutting gas emissions, we want to start composting when we move, I am thinking of using less energy by hang drying a lot of clothing….and continuing the other “green” things I do, recycling, using cloth bags for shopping, using chem free cleaners, etc.

The Envirosax look so cool, would love to win one!

We are gardening and produce almost all the vegetables we eat for the summer and can some for the fall. We are also trying to buy more local food, which should be good for the environment and our local economy! I was very inspired by the Book Club reading!

avatar Martha Erickson

More recycling!!!

avatar Shannon

We are eating locally – from a massive garden expansion to the farmer’s market and csa.

avatar Cheryl

We’ve been growing much of our own produce this year, as well as using containers for our sandwiches and such, to save on plastic baggie consumption!

avatar Carol

We are doing better and better about recycling and teaching our children. We have a vegetable garden this year, and a small compost pile. One of the things I need to start doing are re-usable shopping bags.

avatar April

We are simplifying our vehicles and are narrowing it down to one car and two motorcycles. We imagine that gas consumption will a whole lot lower by doing this and therefore saving us money and wasting good resources.

avatar jodi

We are relocating to an area only 10 minuutes from my job, instead of 45. Less traveling, less damage to the ozone. These bags would be great too!

We plan to begin replacing our old lightbulbs with more energy efficient CFL bulbs throughout the summer.

avatar Melitsa

We’re planting a garden and hoping for better success after getting lots of good advice.

avatar Jenny Muth

I have been more conscious of plastic and my use of it lately – fewer individual serving size items, using reusable containers more often, etc.

avatar kitter

We’re switching to “happier” meat – organic, grass-fed.

avatar Alexandra Howard

We will be using our cloth diapers again with baby #2 due in a few weeks and I already made a bunch of cloth napkins to start using once we move to our new home in Michigan, also in a couple weeks!

avatar Andrea

I plan to hang more clothing out to dry in the sun to save electricity :-)

avatar Mimi

We have switched to all organic produce, dairy and meat.

avatar jesser

In our second year of gardening, we are starting a compost pile. I look forward to seeing all of our veggie leavings in there instead of the trash.

avatar Casie

We started a compost bin and are cutting out high-fructose corn syrup from our diet!

avatar AnnDee

These bags really are lovely! This year we are going to plant a shade tree to help reduce the use of air conditioning in the summers. We already stopped using plastic bags, plant our own vegetable garden, compost, recycle everything we possibly can, and use cloth diapers.

avatar kristen

recycle!

avatar Coralee

So we are a cloth diapering, cloth bag using, washable liner for the diaper genie, recycling type family already, so as far as something more eco friendly goes, we’ll try to purchase products with less packaging.

avatar Heather

We’ve stopped buying bottled water, and we also just started our very first compost pile. I hope it goes well!!!

avatar milkmama

We are using wool diaper covers instead of plastic with our cloth diapers, and trying to buy clothing made with earth friendly dyes, etc.

We are building both a composter and a rain catcher for our small city yard. I have one Envirosax and would love two more – they’re fantastic!

avatar Ashley BB

We are trying to grow our own herbs and vegetables! It’s so much fun with my two boys!

Ashley BB´s last blog post…Buzz Lightyear

avatar Julie

I think my family is pretty eco-friendly already, but one new thing we are working on is no plastic water bottles. We’ve purchased metal bottles and are working on remembering to take them to ball games, etc. We recycle the rare plastic ones we do use, but we’re hoping to eliminate the altogether.

avatar Chris

I’m going to try to reuse water in different ways! Bubble bath water to clean the toilet, veggie/ bean cooking water to water my container plants or grass. In our drought-ridden part of Texas, every bit helps (the plants and the water bill!).

avatar Abra

I am slowly getting on the eco-friendly bandwagon. The biggest change I am making this year is to bring reusable bags to the grocery store. It helps that they make so many cute bags these days!

avatar Brilliant Moms

We are hoping to switch to all eco-friendly cleaning this year. We’re going to be making our own glass cleaners, laundry soap, etc. We’re looking forward to experimenting with it!

avatar VeggieMomma

This year, I’m hoping to switch to almost zero paper waste in my home. I’m working up to the cloth for #1. Not quite there yet though!

avatar Cris

We are now using cloth napkins for meals, using homemade cleaners, and are working on growing a few vegetables and herbs.

avatar Michelle Meyer

I endeavor to always remember to bring my reusable grocery bags with me to the store!

I’d like to start composting…gotta get the hubby on board though. Now that Austin has the HUGE recycling bins, I realize that I can almost produce little to no trash if I compost.

avatar Linda

I’m going to give up paper napkins and use cloth.
