Photo Books: A Great Tool to Reduce Clutter & Make Sentimental Gifts

November 14, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

This giveaway is now closed – but you can still go here for a free scrapbook until November 30.

Before we moved overseas, we created four photo books.  We wanted to keep our photo collection streamlined and lightweight, so this seemed like the logical solution.  And we get compliments on them all the time.

Today, Inkubook is treating Simple Mom readers!  Everyone can create their own free digital scrapbook online – all you have to pay for is shipping.  Yes, everyone includes you – so get started!

Here’s how to get yours:

1. Sign up with Inkubook and start making your free digital scrapbook.  You have from now until November 30.

2. If you want, use the “Invite Friends” feature, and invite someone to join Inkubook so they can submit a few photos or page designs to include in your book.  Inkubook will also send them a promotion code to use for a free digital scrapbook.

3. When you’re finished with your free digital scrapbook, enter this promotion code at checkout: PBK266.  You pay only shipping charges to receive your free book.  Basic shipping options are $6.99 for Media Mail and $8.99 for Standard Ground.

Want an even sweeter deal?

Inkubook is also giving away FIVE free books of any style and size to five Simple Mom readers. You can do photo books, art books, recipe collections, and more.  These would make wonderful Christmas gifts – just think of your kids’ grandparents drooling at the site of these.

To win, simply leave a comment on this post, answering this question – what are you reading these days?

To get a second entry, mention this giveaway on your blog and let me know about it.  Sorry, no third entry this time – I’m a bit wiped out organizing all the secret code entries from the last giveaway a few days ago.  I’m sure you all understand.

This giveaway will end on Sunday, November 16 at midnight CST – it’s just a few days, so be sure and spread the word right away.

I hope you win!

Since I’m a full-time student right now, my reading revolves around textbooks. When I have a free moment, I like to glance over a Backpacker mag to daydream about a time when I will not be stuck in a library. I sadly don’t get much time to read any real books (just blogs and emails!), but I managed some time over the weekend to read a book I’d picked up at the Southern Festival of Books in Nashville a few weeks back. It was written by a man who had helped build the Saturn V rockets, so my rocket scientist self was intrigued, despite the rest of the booth making me suspicious about his religious leanings.

Well, not only was it a thinly veiled advertisement for why the KJV was the only true Bible, it was also HORRIBLY edited. By far my favorite gaffe was when he was talking about after the rapture. Apparently non-believers should start practicing with harpoons because after the rapture, there will be lots of “whaling and gnashing of teeth.” Ha! Makes me kinda sorry I’m gonna miss it!

Hi Tsh!
I am currently reading Coal River, a book about the fight against Mountain top Removal….a very interesting and infuriating read. I have to take it in doses! Also, for fun I’m reading/listening to the second book of the Twilight series….book candy;)

BTW, I went on Inukbook and uploaded some pics, very easy and straightforward, but when I enter the promotion code, it says you need at least one member on the book for the coupon to apply. I went on Live Chat, very quick and helpful, and was told that you *have* to invite someone in order to redeem the code. Not a problem, but thought you might like to let your readers not that inviting is a requirement.

Thanks for all the work you do on these giveaways! Can’t wait to give away some stuff myself!

I’m currently reading
“The Four Things That Matter Most” by Ira Byock, MD – A book about living -

My mother was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer recently, she knew she had it and didn’t tell anyone or go to a doctor for at least 2 years. To say the least I have a few different emotions going on all at once. The book focuses on the power of saying “Please forgive me,” “I forgive you,” “Thank you,” and “I love you.” These are all phrases I need to work on and be able to say to my mother while I still have the time. BUT the book demonstrates how useful the phrases are in a wide range of life situations just not in the face of death. It really is a book about living and living better. I highly recommend it.

LOVE THE BLOG

Hmmm – besides reading Thomas the Tank Engine to my oldest boy, I have engrossed myself in reading as many trashy novels as I can get through – right now I’m in the middle of The Nightengale Legacy and loving it! I enjoy reading everything, but I’ve been in the mood for some fun easy reading, and these books hit the spot.
But as of late I seem to be reading more online than anything – as in following every blog for mommies I can get my computer signed up for!

I tried to do a free inkubook & it wouldn’t let me use the coupon code- it said I could only use it if I had another member on one of my books. Any idea what that means? I don’t have anyone to contribute a picture to my book- is there a way to get around that? I’m happy to tell everyone about inkubook (I’m impressed with it for sure!), but don’t have anyone to ask to contribute a photo to this particular book. Any ideas why the coupon code’s not working?
Thanks so much!

I just made my wedding album yesterday! You can’t beat $8.99 for a whole custom wedding album! I also posted about it on my blog last night for an extra entry!

Right now I am reading *Goodnight Moon* and The Dr. Suess in utero book. But if I had more time, I’d be finishing up: Do You Think I’m Beautiful? by Angela Thomas.

Ooo! And I finished *Expecting Adam* a month or two ago, and it was amazing! It is about a Harvard graduate student and her husband (also getting his Harvard PhD at the the time) who found out they were pregnant with a child with Down’s Syndrome. Their journey prior to Adam’s birth and afterward is phenomenal, and Martha Beck writes it from a very honest and humorous perspective. Totally different and awesome!

I’m reading anything and everything on pregnancy! I’m due to have my first baby on December 29th and it seems I can’t get my hands on enough books about bellies, babies and…ahhh…delivery! So I’ve got baby on the brain but of course, dropping by here always provides a needed break from baby talk!

I’m reading the second book in the Fablehaven series. Well, actually I’m listening to it on CD. I don’t have time to read, but I can listen to book while I am at work,. I still like a lot of books that are considered children book. This one is a good one.

Mostly I am reading “Guess How Much I Love You” and “The Best Mouse Cookie”. However, when I get to read for myself I am jumping between “Alice in Quantumland” and “The Omnivore’s Dilemma”.

Amy Jones 11.15.08 at 8:40 am

I’m reading your blog and a few others, and I have a stack of books on my desk, another on my nightstand, and a stack of library books on the mantle, all of which I’ve read a few pages but can’t finish. Oh, and one under the front seat of my Ford Escape HEV.

But I went to the book website and they don’t support Mac. :(

I do have an old Dell laptop I keep for Boy Scouts, because they don’t support Mac either…. so I’ll try to sit down and do it later. Right now I have to go buy paint for the painter to finish my garage, go to Wimberly and buy the pecan post and slab for my new breakfast bar, and finish tearing down the pantry and maybe rip out some cabinets if I can get to it.

I so need to do this. I have started some digital scrapbooking, and I wanted to eventually make a book out of it, and this should motivate me.

I am reading “From the Ground Up: The Story of a First Garden.” I am almost done, and its really good so far. It reads like a novel, but it has great tips of what you should actually do if you decide to start a garden. I think I have been inspired. I just have to motivate myself to go do some of the prep work that will same me work in the spring.
