in giveaways

This giveaway is now closed. The winner is Stephanie – congratulations!

The next giveaway just makes my organizing heart flutter.  The Neat Company believes you shouldn’t have to work to use your information. They’ve developed intelligent products that transform information into something that works for you. Perfect for busy home managers.

Their products free the information that’s trapped on paper—so you can secure it, organize it, and use it. When your information is transformed, you are too—from cluttered to confident, from overwhelmed to accomplished.

The whole point of their products is to keep less paper.  After all, what we really want is the information on the paper, not the paper itself.

NeatReceipts is a hardware/software combo that allows users to scan, organize and digitize all their paper receipts and financial documents, and automates the tax preparation process. It is fully compatible with Turbo Tax, Quicken and QuickBooks, and the IRS accepts scanned images of receipts (you never know when that might be important).

Think of it as the digital filing cabinet – you can save, track and manage your information without the paper.  And one Simple Mom reader will win a NeatReceipts!

Here’s How To Win:

1. Leave a comment on this post, answering this question – What’s your biggest organizing challenge at home?

2. To get a second entry – and a second entry on all the giveaways this week – subscribe to the Simple Mom feed and email me the movie quote at the bottom of any post in your feed reader or email inbox (there is only one quote for all the giveaways). Send it to simplemomblog (at) gmail (dot) com, and put the quote directly in the subject line. The body of the email won’t be read.  And you only need to email me the quote once in order to get a second entry for all the week’s giveaways.

3. Finally, to get a third entry, post or tweet about this giveaway – if you use the URL of this post, I’ll receive it – no need to email me.

This giveaway is only eligible to US and Canadian residents.

This giveaway will end this Monday, February 2 at noon EST. I hope you win!

My biggest challenge: We have full time jobs and also run a company from our home. So, it is is a mess to keep the desk straight with our bills, company bills, real-job items. It is definitely the worst area in my home.

avatar Kim

All the paperwork…I really struggle with keeping it all organized no matter how hard I seem to try.

avatar Anita B

I have so much clutter that keeps accumulating on my desk! No matter how much I clean, it seems to be the catch all place for everything!

Mail – it drives me crazy because it stacks up and we cannot process it and file it immediately.

avatar Katie C

Paperwork is definitely our biggest challenge in our house. There are lots of important papers stuffed in kitchen drawers and closets because we don’t have a good system for keeping track of them all!

avatar April

My biggest challenge is my home office. It’s a separate room, complete with DOOR, so my dear loved ones (mom, hubster, like to HELP me clean the house every once in a great while and throw the excess “I-don’t-know-where-this-goes-so-I’ll-just-put-it-in-here-for-now” SHtuff in MY office. I also have homeschooling stuff, baby stuff (from our new addition that’s now 5 mos old) and business stuff since I also have a home business!! Which consists of an entire wall of shelves that hold…baby stuff…for the diaper cakes/baskets for the business. And there’s paperwork….gobs and googles of paperwork. And stuff. Oh. my. word. STUFF!!! It’s insane. And depressing. I don’t like to be in there because there’s too much STUFF and clogs my thought processes completely!! BOO! HOWEVER! I have resolved to spend this weekend cleaning said nasty pit OUT with the help of the hubster (who will do the heavy lifting and the babysitting, yay!!) So…any ya’ll in my neck of the woods, swing on by and help this poor mama out…PLEASE!! =P

my biggest organizing challenge is storage and time. I have three kids under the age of 5, so a nice safe place to store things would be awesome! I hope I win!!

avatar Keilah

Paper, paper is all I see, miles of paper, oh will you please help me!
I have the hardest time decluttering. Between my husband and I we are both little packrats on a different level and together it is not good. I would love something like this. Thanks for the super giveaway!

My biggest organizational problem at home….ahh there are sooo many. I would have to say toys and our basement in general…our goal this weekend is to start emptying out our basement of all the junk we haven’t touched in the 5yrs we have lived here. this scanner would be a wonderful way to organize my husbands garbage bag of receipts.

avatar danielle

Maintaining is my biggest challenge – keeping things organized once you finish cleaning.

avatar SarahB

This is a great idea! My biggest challenge is the mail which just seems to multiply once I bring home!

avatar Jill

My worst paperwork organizing dilemma is my son’s medical paperwork.

avatar Ginny

My biggest organizing problem is my closet that I worked on last weekend and now I need to declutter the paperwork on the desk again. This is really neat, I would love to have this to help with my organization of receipts. Also, so many times those printed receipts fade away in a few months. Love this technological device.

My biggest organizing challenge is my husband. Need I say more?

avatar Nancy

I’m a stay at home mom who works part time doing product demonstrations at local stores. Each company requires us to make copies of all our paperwork, which I hold on to to make sure I am paid for each job completed. As organized as I am, we live in a small house and at the end of the year my file cabinet is overflowing with paper…from my demos as well as our household documents. What a fabulous way to have everything I need, without the paper itself. Not to mention the paper I can recycle, the trees I can save (so I don’t have to make paper copies) and help our earth be a little cleaner!! Is it compatible with Macs??

avatar Candy

My biggest issue is the incoming mail – every day, I get more paper to sort.

Paper clutter in the form of: recipes, kid artwork/school papers, articles from magazines I want to save for some reason or other and I have no good system for any of it! What a great giveaway!

avatar Kim

My biggest organiaing challenge is my desk. I have been taking papers to work to scan, but some stuff gets missed, and I still feel like there are some papers that I have to hang onto, like tax returns, and I am having issues with others in my house putting stuff on my desk that does belong there.

avatar Jaclyn

It would have to be the paper/mail…it keeps coming!

avatar Camille

I guess just all the paper clutter that comes through. Between 3 boys and their school papers, our business mail, our personal mail, etc. , it can get out of control. I do feel like I keep a pretty good handle on it, but it can get insane pretty quickly, if I don’t work at it.

avatar Meg from FruWiki

My biggest clutter challenge is definitely paper! And especially receipts!

Paperwork. I homeschool so I have those additional papers. It is coming out of my ears. I usually keep on top of it, but a day or two of letting it go and chaos starts to brew.

avatar Terressa T.

I have been dreaming of something like this for years!!! I’m glad someone tackled the idea :) My biggest organizing challenge is the home office! because of the papers, I just don’t know what to keep, what’s okay to toss and everything in between! what a GREAT giveaway.

avatar Kelly H

Papers and bills most definitely present the biggest challenge here! They end up on the dining room table and then we have no where to eat!!

avatar pam prussel

Seriously, like everyone else, it’s the paper. With four kids at three different schools, in four different activities, there is always more paper than I can handle. The catch-all place? One are of my kitchen counter. Sometimes I feel like the paper will come alive and take over the house. Hepl1

My home office.
It has been on my mental to organize file for longer than I can remember. Whenever I see a perfectly organized and functional office I swoon.

avatar Stacey

You name it… it’s a problem. I live in a house that’s over 100 years old and all of our stuff just doesn’t fit.

avatar Dee

My biggest organizational challenge is truly the endless paper. I am good at filing the basic bills but it is keeping up with all of the other paper and receipts. I have seen the Neat Receipts on other sites and wondered if this would help me – I’d love to find out!

avatar Laura

My desk is a disaster… I hate all this paper!

avatar Debbie

avatar JulieS

My biggest organizing difficulty is finding the time to do it. Everything from tidying the throw pillows to sorting the mail. Especially the mail! Even the “real” mail stacks up surprisingly quickly.

avatar Untypically Jia

Honestly, my biggest challenge is not having papers on the computer. I’m great with organizing when it comes to online, but I just hate paperwork so much and I don’t have room around here for any of it. Plus I’m picky, and if I’m going to file something, I need a new file cabinet, folders, labels, the works. But a computer would be so easy cause that’s all free.

So please enter me in this contest!

Along with several other commenters here, I am often overwhelmed by all of the papers that my son brings home from daycare. Although I am very proud of his coloring skills, my refrigerator can only hold so many pictures. :)

I’ve started scanning the really stellar ones and posting them on our family blog. That way, grandparents and other friends can see his work. Then, I throw the pictures away. Is that awful?

All of the papers…receipts, bills, junk mail….you name it. My office is a disaster right now! And don’t forget the papers I have to grade! YIKES!!!

avatar marissa

I’ve got the laundry down to a science. The kitchen gets the most attention, so it stays manageable . But I run a multitude of businesses, most of them non-profit (volunteer work), and it’s darn near impossible to stay on top of. If I spend the time on paperwork, other things fall behind, but I’ve learned that prioritizing keeps me in line. I spend a good 2 hours every single night, after dinner time, family time, and husband time (usually after midnight) ‘playing with papers’. And I’m still drowning in it!

avatar llkovar

I’m having a hard time narrowing that down! It’s everything… too much stuff in a small home. Since a new baby “took over” my office, dealing with paper and all that paper and office stuff is definitely towards the top of my needs to be purged/organized list. I’m learning a lot about simplifying here – thank you!

Hardest part of cleaning up is really just to pick up after myself right away. If I can do that, I can avoid the full-day on weekend cleaning project that I MUST do before I go crazy and/or any guest shows up… Getting a file system going has really been a life saver. But if all that clutter can also go with neat receipt! perhaps there’s a chance for me yet to stop being a pack rat… :)
