in giveaways

This giveaway is now closed. The winner is Katherine – congratulations!

The next giveaway today is from Angie Warren Designs, and she is giving one Simple Mom reader a set of 50 mommy cards!

Mommy cards are the latest trend in the blogosphere for busy moms to quickly share their contact info – a veritable business card for some of the busiest, hard-working adults out there.

Angie’s cards are gorgeously printed front and back, and they all feature a photo (or photos) of your cute kids.

One reader will win a set of 50 mommy cards of their choice from Angie Warren Designs!  The retail value of this prize is $25.  Here’s how to win:

1. Leave a comment on this post, answering this question – What’s your favorite thing to do with other moms?

2. To get a second entry – and a second entry on all the giveaways this week – subscribe to the Simple Mom feed and email me the movie quote at the bottom of any post in your feed reader or email inbox (there is only one quote for all the giveaways). Send it to simplemomblog (at) gmail (dot) com, and put the quote directly in the subject line. The body of the email won’t be read.  And you only need to email me the quote once in order to get a second entry for all the week’s giveaways.

3. Finally, to get a third entry, post or tweet about this giveaway – if you use the URL of this post, I’ll receive it – no need to email me.

This giveaway will end this Thursday, January 29 at noon EST. I hope you win!

My favorite thing to do …. just talk with other adults! It can be over lunch, dinner, coffee, or a playdate at the park. I just cherish the conversation face-to-face with another adult. :)

My favorite thing to do with other moms is to just have coffee and relax, chatting and getting to know each other. Moms have such a special connection, and it’s wonderful to see how each mom can minister to another in a unique way.

Cool prize! My favorite thing to do with other moms is to do a ‘moms night out’ without the kids. Just get away from it all.

I’m a mom, but my kids are all grown up. I’m also a grandmother now. However, I still enjoy getting together with moms of all ages to just talk, laugh, and encourage each other.

I love getting together for coffee while the kids are at school or preschool. It’s so nice to chat about something besides blocks, cars, and Noggin for a little while!

My fav thing to do with other Moms? Getting together to catch up on our “scrapbooking” (scrapbooking is code for Martini’s!).

Right now, I’m loving to sew with my mom friends. The kids run around, and we may or may not get any sewing done, but we have a lot of fun.

my favorite thing to do with other moms: leave the kids and husbands at home and head for a cool local coffeehouse where we drink exotic coffees and laugh our heads off for a few hours. it feels *so* good.

A fellow twin mom who had her boys only a few weeks after my girls (in October ’08) and I have been walking at the mall. We live where it’s snowy, and it has been a great way to get out, exercise, and talk about twin stuff!

avatar Robin

My favorite thing to do with other moms is go to the park. We live within walking distance of four parks/playgrounds…a fact that makes me hesitant to EVER think about moving. I love running into friends, neighbors, or moms I’ve never met on my way to one of these spots. We usually have our kids in strollers and can talk more or less without distraction. Until we get to the park, of course. :) It would be great to keep these cards in my stroller and be able to whip them out when I meet someone new!!

avatar Nicole

I love to go out for “Mommy Down Time” and have a decent meal and a drink. Without the kids hanging on us, we can finally have a real conversation. Its great to hear another mom’s perspective and know you are not alone in “mommy world.” I would love to get some moms together and stay in a bed and breakfast and shop in a quaint little town. There are a few lovely ones near by. We also have a winery 5 minutes down the road and I plan on taking advantage with some neighborhood mommies.
Cards – what a fabulous idea. I belong to a stay at home mom’s group with hundreds of other moms. What an easy way to share.

avatar darah7

These are so cute. And would be handy in our new town! My favorite thing is to just sit and talk. It’s so nice to talk to someone who has even an inkling of what you’re going through!

darah7´s last blog post…hello, choffy!

avatar Andrea

meet at the park and have it be the perfect time of kids playing and moms getting to chat (which rarely happens this way, but oh well)

avatar Freedom

My other mom friends and I are all on a ministry team together. And I LOVE working with them. Our kids are growing up together as bff’s and we are super close as we share a common goal. On the special “Encounter” weekends we facilitate, we leaders go back to our rooms at night, and stay up late into the night, slumber-party style, swapping stories and giggling into the wee hours. I LOVE my mom friends!

Having a cup of tea while the little ones play. Talking about all the positive things motherhood has to offer. Sharing all the things that we can pray for one another.

Or texting. It’s easier than chatting on the phone because you can put it down in the middle of a text, without taking up the other moms time while she listens to you instruct your toddler. : )

Sorry to be redundant but just talk. That way my husband doesn’t have to get all of my 50,000 words per day all of the time. (That’s how many words per day they say women are hardwired to say everyday.)

Doing nothing with moms has got to be the best. By that I mean doing nothing more than sitting back, talking about how beautiful our world is, and not focusing on all the pressing things in our life (kids, spouses, homes, etc). It’s a great stress detox and I always feel able to get going again after a break with friends.

I am lucky to have many, many wonderful girlfriends. We love to visit, talk, laugh, drink wine, get pedicures, go to concerts, and do crafts together. Our favorite thing to do together though is probably watching our kids play together and grow up as friends.

I’m lucky because I work with many of my best friend moms and we bring our kids to work with us. So it’s like one big playdate all the time. But, we really love when we get together without all the kids and just enjoy each other’s company kid free!

My favorite is to talk & shop – kid free prefered! It’s so nice to have an uninterupted adult conversation, and get in and out of stores without a double stroller with kids constantly asking for snacks and to go see the toy isle yet again.

I think the thing I like to do best with other moms is just talk — either while our little ones play at a park or while (by some miracle) we’re out on our own. The best talks are the ones that are authentic — with women you connect with and can be honest about where you are in life. Mothering is an awesome job (the only one I ever wanted), but it’s demanding, and being able to be real about that can make a week!

avatar Dodi

Laugh and tell stories on ourselves.

I love to cook with other moms. I recently had a mom from my church come over and show me how to make bread! It was so fun, and the kids had a great time together. I also often have dinner with a close friend and her family, alternating whose home we go to. It’s great!

avatar Janine

My fave thing to do with other moms? Take a lunch to a park and chat while kids play.

OR leave kids with daddies and go out for coffee.

avatar Ashley

Love to put the babies in their strollers, and walk and chat!

One of my favorite things to do with other moms is to have knit ins. We get together, bring knitting projects and snacks, and have fun gabbing while we knit. We’re willing to teach newbies, too, so we’ve had fun adding to our group.

avatar Cheryll

I love to cook with my friends while enjoying a great bottle of wine.

avatar Julie

I love to actually get together with my friends. I live overseas, and so it is so nice when I get to go back home and actually connect with them. I don’t care what we do, as long as we can catch up in person.

Over here, I don’t get to connect with girlfriends very often, but when I do, I also don’t care what we do, as long as we can have good conversation!

My friend is a guest blogger today at my site. http://burningbushes.org/

My favourite thing to do with other Moms is to go to the park, my hmmm “older” bones need the workout, love the cards, my friends actually have these, I need some, so please count me in!

avatar Tracy

A group of us go biking together – figure we can exercise, and chat at the same time!

avatar metromom

Playdates, with a bottle of wine!

avatar Rebecca

Our fav thing to do with other moms/kids is to play! Our kids love the simple notion of playing with friends – at the playground, around the church sanctuary, at our home or others’ homes… there’s nothing like good ol’ fashioned play for kids. I love the time to chat and share with other adults while knowing my kids are free to run as they please.

avatar Diane S

My favorite thing is just having some down time doing something crafty or having dinner. Adult chit chat. We can usually solve all the world’s problems by the time we’re done. :o )

avatar Cath

I would say knit, chat, and share a glass of wine …

or play outside with the kids (hard to do today with a major snowstorm brewing)

avatar Amy

We love to swap money saving tips! It’s fun to see who can be the most frugal!

avatar Carrie

Just sitting and chatting over a cup of tea while the kids play . . . or in the summer, going to the beach with several other moms and their kids. So much fun! I love being able to encourage and be encouraged by others who are in the same stage of life as me.

And those mommy cards are sooo pretty!!

LOL I’m hoping to win this for my husband. Hope she’s willing to do a Daddy card instead (he’s a SAHD and this would be perfect for him). My favorite thing to do with other Moms…well, ummm….whatever I normally do with other adults. I don’t do anything with anyone just cuz they are a Mom.

avatar Erin
