This is going to be a condensed Link Love Saturday because we leave early tomorrow morning. Be remembering me as you rejoice in not having to wake your children at 3 a.m. for a 6 a.m. international flight.
Here’s what I’ve enjoyed this week, in my miniscule spare time:
- Being a Full Time Parent Has More To Do With Sacrifice Than Luck :: Frugal Dad (amen, brother!)
- Improve Middle Class Finances Through Education :: My Dollar Plan
- Trading Down to a Smaller House :: Small Notebook (I love this woman…)
- How Ignorance Can Lead to Success :: Marc and Angel Hack Life
- For the Love of Words :: Maya Made
- Back to Basics: Debt-Free is the Path to Financial Success :: My Super-Charged Life (amen, brother!)
- Three Easy Ways to Limit the Advertising in Your Life :: On Simplicity
- Simple Steps for Organizing a Home Office :: Unclutterer
- 17 Sneaky Savings Strategies :: The Wisdom Journal
- Pencil Pocket Tutorial :: Whip Up
- The Etsy Seller’s Handbook :: Etsy (more info than you could possibly ever read!)
Since we leave tomorrow, and since we’ll be dealing with a 8-hour time change, I’ll be pretty swamped. I’m guessing I’ll have my hands pretty full with children who want to wake up and play at 3 a.m. So I’ve arranged a fantastic line-up of guest posters for the next little bit. Seriously – you readers are in for a treat.
The next time you hear from me here on Simple Mom, I’ll be touching American soil. I’m looking forward to it!

welcome home! Have a safe trip.
Wow! I’ve been enjoying your blog for just a few weeks now – reading and rereading lots of your posts. Imagine my surprise to see a link today to my pencil pocket tutorial! Thank you!
Thanks for the lesson on cross cultural kids…my daughter and hubby live overseas and probably will for a lifetime. I have grieved over the prospect of them raising babies so far away ( they dont have any yet, but are thinking about starting a family), but mostly for selfish reasons. Your article reminded me of many truths that I have been ignoring just because I dont want to be so far away from their little lives. Thank the Lord for email and Skype! Tell me ways that your family ministers to you and your little ones to keep you all close despite the big pond between you. It’s hard sometimes and nobody ever thinks about how much the parents of expats feel..maybe you should hook me up with your mom!
keep up the good work – I have told all my young mom friends about your blog! Happy Traveling!
While you’re on the plane (and if there’s a moment you have free…) write us up a blog post on traveling internationally with kids!
p.s. my husband is also a “3rd culture kid” and we refer to that fact often.
Have a safe trip!
Best,
Jenny

Hey, thanks for linking to my story on smallnotebook! I’ve gotten so much support through people reading about my seemingly “nutty” choices and I feel like the more people who read it, maybe the more people will GET IT! Love your site too!
Thankyou for the tips and hope all goes well in your new life venture! Cherrie
