Alright, readers, show of hands — how many of you know someone who has battled cancer? How many of you had a family member in this battle?
I’ll bet you it’s almost all of us. I know I’m one of them.
Well, there’s a heredity test out there called BRACAnalysis®. It’s a test for individuals thought to be at high risk for hereditary breast or ovarian cancer because of a personal and/or family history of breast or ovarian cancer. BRACAnalysis detects mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, the gene mutations that are responsible for the vast majority of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.
Just Ask is a group getting the word out about this test, and wants people to know that they can be screened for their chances of breast cancer. And to get people’s attention, they’re offering some sweet giveaways for their Facebook fans.

My mom battled breast cancer 4 years ago, and is winning! She had the testing done because her mother had breast cancer. My mom has two daughters and 4 grand daughters and got the testing to help all of her ‘girls’ know something about our medical histories.
Fortunately, she doesn’t have a known genetic link. I’m so glad the testing was available so we could know.

My mom has been battling small cell lung cancer for a year and sadly last week we were told she has a month or two, because the cancer has returned to her spinal cord. Cancer stinks!
