Create a Unique Baby Gift with Fill In The Blankie

This giveaway is now closed. The winner is Kati – congratulations!

The second giveaway is from Fill In The Blankie.  You’ll feel cozy just perusing this website – my son recently received an embroidered blanket from them, and it is amazingly soft.

This company makes giving a baby blanket so much more than a standby shower gift – you can customize any variety of blanket with any statement in a whole variety of fonts and colors.  You can be as creative or as classic as you want – customize the blanket with the baby’s name and birth date, or share one of your favorite quotes around the edge of the blanket.

All the blanket fabrics are velvety soft – you can choose anything from cable knit to Portuguese sateen.  The blankets are delivered tied in a gorgeous satin bow, making it an ideal baby gift.

One Simple Mom reader will win a completely customized baby blanket from Fill In The Blankie – you can choose everything from the fabric type, to the color, to the fonts, to the wording.  This gift is valued between $39 and $109, depending on your choice of blanket.

Here’s How To Win:

1. Leave a comment on this post, answering this question – When you were a child, how big a family did you want when you grew up?

2. To get a second entry – and a second entry on all the giveaways this week – subscribe to the Simple Mom feed and email me the movie quote at the bottom of any post in your feed reader or email inbox (there is only one quote for all the giveaways). Send it to simplemomblog (at) gmail (dot) com, and put the quote directly in the subject line. The body of the email won’t be read.  And you only need to email me the quote once in order to get a second entry for all the week’s giveaways.

3. Finally, to get a third entry, post or tweet about this giveaway – if you use the URL of this post, I’ll receive it – no need to email me.

This giveaway will end this Saturday, January 31 at noon EST. I hope you win!

  24. avatar Briana says:

I changed my mind often. I thought for a long time I wanted to have a lot of kids, 4-6 (which I know is not a lot to some). Then, I wound up in a blended family situation after my father died and my stepbrothers’ mom died. There were 7 children, and I was 2nd eldest. AT that point, I wanted to have very few children.
I have 3 of my own, think we will not have anymore of our own but would LOVE to adopt as many as God would supply grace, resources and wisdom for.

Both of my parents got re-married, so I grew up in a combined family with 5 step-brothers, 3 step-sisters, 1 half-brother and 1 half-sister. So growing up, I didn’t want ANY kids at ALL. I didn’t even want to get married, I thought.

I’ve changed my mind since then. I’ve been married for 6 years and have 4 kids and am happier than I’ve ever been in my whole life. I wouldn’t trade my kids for anything in the world! I even think that in a couple of years we’ll have another baby. Here’s to five!!

When I was growing up, I was definitely NOT thinking about the size of family I wanted. In fact, the only thing I was thinking about was… would I get married to a total hunk? My priorities were clearly in the right place.

After I got married (to my hunk), we realized we wanted a whole brood of kids. Right now, we’re delighted to have two little girls.

I honestly never thought much about it. I remember being in college and going to see Cheaper by the Dozen with my sister. We walked out of there and she said, “Wouldn’t it be fun to have 12 kids?” at the exact same time I said, “Oh my gosh, that seems like a nightmare.” The odd thing is, now we have four and I can see adopting more someday.

  71. avatar Deanna says:

Growing up with 3 sisters, I wanted a family like “Jo’s Boys,” at least 3 or 4 sons. However, after having my first boy, I was thrilled with a little girl. And that was it for us!

  72. When I was a kid I was too busy dreaming about all the fabulous things I would be one day… doctor, lawyer, astronaut. Even when I got married I never dreamed I would love being a stay-at-home mom and raising multiple kids. Who knew that being a mom was fabulous too!

I don’t specifically remember wanting a certain number of children when I was younger. I do however remember this reoccurring daydream where a baby girl was left on my porch and I had to take care of her. 77. avatar Mary says:

I really wanted 10 kids at first. Then 7, with the seventh being named “Fred” regardless of gender (but hoping it would be a girl) then somehow, I find myself pregnant with my 3rd, expected before my oldest turns 3, and I am thinking… 2 would have been grand. but i know this little boy that is soon to come will be a wonderful blessing from God, and most likely, the last little blessing :)

  78. avatar tarryn says:

I don’t remember how many I wanted when I was younger. As I grew up, I figured 3 sounded good, until we had trouble getting pregnant and staying pregnant. Then I wanted 10! Now we have 4 boys and that’s working pretty darn well for me.

  79. When I was a child I wanted 2 kids – a boy and a girl. I thought if I had 2 of the same thing I might have a third. Well, right now I have 2 girls but we don’t intend to try again for a boy.

I always thought I’d have 2. Never in a million years did I picture myself with 5. What a blessing each of them is!

  84. avatar Amber says:

I wanted 4 kids…it seemed like a good number. Not too big (I’m from a family of 6) and not too small. I also thought I would have a girl first. Now I have one boy but I couldn’t imagine it any other way. We’ll definitely have another but I’m taking it one kid at a time at this point :)

  85. avatar Jan Abney says:

When I was in 9th grade, my boyfriend asked me how many children I wanted. I floored him by answering, “Thirteen”. I raised 6 of my own, and we are raising 2 granddaughters (for 14 years and counting), and have a grandson (5) living with us whose daddy is in and out with his work. I married a man who was #2 of 13 children! Between my mom and I, we had 13. Now I have 12 grandchildren, and they aren’t finished. I love a large family, especially when they can all come “home” for the holidays! We are blessed!

I never dreamt of an exact number of children, but I wanted many, having 4 siblings myself and loving it.

  92. avatar Jessica says:

Although I enjoyed very much being one of 4 children and I had really worked with my parents when we were only two and we would have liked more siblings, as a child, in my regard, I wanted no kids of my own… Maybe one, but only because I wanted to adopt and I thought the social implications of that were bigger than the personal implications, so that would make it ok by me. Then, as a young adult, I had my first child and WOW!!!! My idea of family has morphed HUGELY! I have 4 children and heartily wish for another one soon : )

Ooh, those are pretty! I wanted at least 5 kids, preferably more but I knew that was a lot to have money for. I had one brother and my Mom was the oldest of 14. I thought she had the better deal! I settled for two with my DH as he wanted an only child. Once we had Winter, we swapper perspectives and he wants more and I was okay with just one! Instead of more of “our own,” however, we’re becoming foster parents.

  95. avatar Krista D. says:

I have always wanted a fairly large family, but I think that as a child, the number was a little higher, like 8 or 9 kids. Now that my second child has just been born, I think 4 or 5 sounds a little better. With that many kids, we will need a lot of blankets! Thanks!
