It’s probably no surprise to you that I’m a minimalist. I shudder at clutter, and I much prefer having one high-quality item than several mediocre versions of something similar. My idea of a heavenly wardrobe is 10 pieces that fit me perfectly and won’t ever wear out.
So when Epson wanted me to give their latest printer a whirl, I thought sure, it might be nice to have one gadget that does a lot of things well. And while I’m not much of a gadget fiend, my husband is, so he was more than a little excited to try it out. Let’s just say that it didn’t take me long to truly appreciate the gift I’d been given.

I’m impressed with the thing. It’s cool. And because it does so much so quickly, it really does make life at home simpler and more productive.
Here’s why I love the Epson Artisan 800 printer:
1. The high-definition photo-quality is outstanding.
We’ll never have to order photos with an outside source again. I can even edit our photos from the printer – eliminate the red-eye, restore old photos, add text, and more. The plus side for me is that now I actually get around to developing photos, instead of just burning them straight to a disc, probably never to be seen again. (And since we’re currently staying with my parents while we’re stateside for a few months, it’s satisfying the never-ceasing grandparent’s thirst for photos.)
Oh, and it prints photos quickly – we’re talking 10 seconds. So if you think you might order (or still win!) your Christmas photo cards from Chickpea Designs, you can print them at home as high-definition photos.
2. It’s wi-fi.
Yep, I never have to connect my laptop and mess with a tangle of cords. This keeps my workspace cleaner, more organized, and more functional. And because it’s wi-fi, anyone who brings their laptop to your home can easily print without having to connect (which yes, means you should password-protect your internet connection so that your neighbors don’t start randomly printing their family photos – wouldn’t that be weird?).

3. It’s pretty.
The LCD keypad is sleek and easy to use, and the printer is unobtrusive, so I don’t mind having it out on display. A big deal for me.

4. It does lots of things.
It scans, it copies, it faxes, it prints double-sided, it creates coloring book pages, it prints ruled and graph paper for school, it prints directly onto CDs and DVDs, it brings you coffee in the morning. Okay, not the coffee, but everything else. And I have this suspicion that it does even more than I’m aware of. We’ll see.
5. One of you will win one. Seriously.

Epson and One2One Network is graciously giving one Simple Mom reader the new Artisan 800 printer. Are you as excited as I am? I wasn’t lying when I said November is a big month of giveaways over here!
Here’s how to win:
1. Leave a comment on this post, answering this question: What gadget can’t you live without?
2. For a second entry, email me at simplemomblog (at) gmail (dot) com with the secret code in the email’s subject line (no need to write anything in the email’s body, as it won’t be read). To find the secret code, make sure you’ve subscribed to Simple Mom’s feed either via RSS or via email, and look in the footer of any post. I promise you – the code is there.
3. For a third entry, mention this giveaway on your blog, and make sure I somehow find out about it.
This giveaway will end on Wednesday, November 12, midnight CST.
I hope you win!

My camera, definitely. No wait, my MacBook. I think I need both.
Wish I had more techy stuff, as i LOVE it! This printer would beef up my techiness! I would have to say, my digital camera, as it is always ready to take those grandkiddo pics, that you just mentioned we have an insatiable desire for…..YES WE DO!!!
I am not a huge gadget person. Fortunately, my husband is! I would say that now that we have an ipod docking station, we can’t live without that because its so nice to have one source of music and not fumble for CD’s all the time!
Definitely my laptop. It’s my connection to the outside world!

I have to pick just one? I guess mine would be my camera! What else can preserve memories?

My favorite gadget is my Nikon D40. Can’t live without it!
My computer. It is my “connection” to distant friends and family.
My can’t-live-without-it gadget is my cellphone. I’m almost ready to get rid of the landline completely as my cellphone has become the one I use most of the time.

There are a number of gadgets that simplify my life, but if I had to choose just one, it would be my laptop. It’s my research library, cookbook, business office + family connector. I don’t know what I’d so without it!!

I love my digital camera. I just posted about it last night! I can’t imagine having to pay for developing so many shots that were not good due to a squirmy little one! Thanks for the chance!
Amber D.’s last blog post…Thankful #6
My video camera, definitely. We have a one year old who is just learning to walk. Having those videos to look at for years to come? Priceless!
I lived without my Canon 40D camera for far too long. I finally sprang for it about a month ago when I realized that I had let far too many of my passions go after my marriage and son’s birth. SO glad I bought it!
I can’t live without my Pure Digital Point and Shoot Video Camcorder! Easy to carry & capture video up to 30 minutes long, then super easy to flip out the attached USB to download my clips to the computer. Love, love, love it!
Does my circa notebook count as a gadget? My Everything is in there. Also low-tech is my cordless phone. When my 3 year old announces she’s giving a piggy-back ride to my 1 year old while I’m on the phone, I need to be there…fast.
Need my laptop.
My laptop.
I CAN NOT live without my iPhone. It’s my lifeline to the world.
Phone, Internet access, music, movies, TV shows, games, productivity, etc, etc, I’m sounding like a sales person. Bye.

My purse-sized digital camera–great for taking short video clips and the on-the-go picture too!
def. my cell phone
my iphone- it has uncluttered my purse because now i have my phone, ipod, calendar, and camera all in one
I could not live without my cell phone. 1. Its the only phone we have now, no more house phone as part of our cutting back plan! 2.I am so used to it now its like a 3rd arm LOL!
I love the style and look of your new printer!!!!
Brandi
I can’t live without my iPhone anymore. I’ve only had it 2 months or so, but already it’s like my lifeline. I can work, play, and even chat with it. I highly suggest everyone get one too. (Plus if they did, there would be no more counting minutes, as everyone would be on AT&T!) I love it!

Wow, that’s a tough one. I guess I have to go with COMPUTER, as I’m sitting here now, happily reading your blog and blogging on my own.
Gina’s last blog post…A Huge Thank You
I definitely could not live without my laptop!! I do so much on it – from my calendar, to menu planning, to recipe hunting, email, research, blogging, chatting, making doctor’s appts, refilling prescriptions, communicating with my kids’ doctors, getting directions, finding sewing patterns, getting other creative ideas, shopping, learning how to do things, finding solutions for problems that come up…when my internet connection goes down, I’m lost!!
I can’t live without my cell phone. I didn’t think I needed one, but now I couldn’t do without it.
I love my iPod. I can’t think of anything else I’ve ever bought that I’ve gotten as much use out of. I have videos, podcasts, music, and photos on it. It’s perfect for the long drives between my home and where I’m from. It’s perfect for listening to at work to drown out noisy coworkers and get things done. It’s perfect for listening to a podcast while walking around the neighborhood. I love it.
Thanks for the fun giveaways! And the always lovely blog!
*drool* Can I live without that printer? OK, possibly.
Honestly, I can’t live without my computer. I work on it, play on it, and I get things done with it.

Does cell phone count? I wake up to the alarm of the cell phone and don’t have landline.
That is a tough question. As we have become a gadget happy nation! I would have to agree with others though that I couldn’t live without my camera. Love that thing!

The gadget I can’t live without is for sure my DVR. I don’t have a lot of TV watching time, so with my handy DVR I can watch what I want when I want with no commercials! Thanks for the giveaway!
Hmmm, there are so many gadgets I can’t live without! I have to pick just one? Probalby my Capresso espresso machine. Or my cell phone. Or my computer.
No, definitely the espresso machine.
Maybe.
I cannot live without my iPhone. It’s my phone, my internet when I’m away from home, stores my tunes (who can live without tunes!), keeps my kids occupied with games when we’re stuck someplace boring….I’d be lost without it
I cannot live without my camera! No way oh and I’m blogging about you if you want to check it out!

So we can only pick one gadget? But I love them all. If I had to pick just one, it would be my Digital SLR camera. It enables me to capture all the moments in my two preschoolers’ lives – the big ones and the little. And the fact that it’s digital allows me to take lots of pix and pick the best one. Plus, my camera has become a much-needed creative outlet for me.

I cannot live without my second brain – my BlackBerry. It allows me to disconnect from the PC without losing my connection to the rest of the world. I love having my email, calendar, Google, etc all right at my fingertips while I am just about anywhere.
StarXLR8′s last blog post…Here fishy fishy
it’s hard to narrow it to just one…both my cell phone (for the calendar reminders) and my digital camera always have a spot in my bag.
I can’t live without my digital camera! As a mom of
3 kids, I’ve gotta capture these moments before they’re
gone. =)
Oh dear – just one gadget? Is my computer a gadget? No? OK – then my camera. Like so many others, I’m constantly taking picws of my kids.

Wow! There are so many – laptop, digital camera, cell phone but a gadget I really like that makes my computer work better for me is my wireless, laptop mouse. I can do things so much faster with it and it’s a lot easier on my hand/wrist than using the small laptop touch pad.

I would have to say my computer. It’s the only gadget I use every day!
I’m not very techie at all. I guess I’d have to say my digital SLR… love being able to instantly see my photos and improve my shots.
Cathy’s last blog post…We have a gracious and compassionate God.
My digital camera.
My one gadget would be my computer but only for 2 purposes: email & the Internet. As much as I have a love/hate relationship with both items, I also can’t imagine having to wait a few weeks for a letter from my overseas friends or having to wait endlessly on the phone to make a flight arrangement, never knowing if I was getting any kind of “deal” or not. But other than that, gadgets aren’t really my thing – but that printer surely would be!!
Thx for the giveaway!

I do love my laptop and my camera, but I could and have lived without them. What I can’t live without is good quality rollerball pens. It seriously drives me crazy if I have something important to write down and I can’t find a pen that writes fluidly. I’m such a luddite, I know.

There are two gadgets I could not live without: my digital camera and my cell phone. Obviously with children, the camera is used on a daily basis. But my cell phone is my life line! While I use pen and paper for to-do lists, I use my phone features to set reminders, alarms, keep notes when I’m not home and of course it’s my phone book!

Not to mention the games I can play!
I can’t live without my Mac PowerBook laptop
Wow, what gadget can I not live without? I think it would have to be my laptop! We live far from family so it helps to keep in touch and I also do most of my household stuff on it (budgeting, balancing ck.book, menu planning, recipe organizing, etc…).

Does Wi-Fi count as a gadget – probably not – more of a service I guess. But that then leaves my iphone…it is quickly replacing my need for a computer…I can take photos, send emails, surf the internet, make phone calls, use the calculator, check my budget, etc. ALL on one small device. (but I still can’t live without my hand jotted lists and weekly planner…)
I’ve seen this printer before and it looks spiffy!

My favorite gadget is my laptop – it keeps me connected to work, home, and everything in between. Plus, I don’t have to have one of those clunky desktops cluttering my space.
Thanks for the opportunity to win such a great product.
At the moment, I can’t live without my immersion blender. It has opened up a whole new world for me and soup! And it’s so easy, no mess!
The gadget that I can’t live without is….my husband’s Nikon D70 SLR camera. It’s fun for me to play with, he takes great photos with it, and I get to put the results on my wall and decorate our tiny apartment with memories of places we’ve been, people we know, and the things we love
Hmmmm….right now it would have to be my Kitchenaide mixer with all the holiday cooking coming up. I have no idea how I ever made anything without it. Overall, though, it would have to be my laptop.
I can’t live without my fancy camera and lenses. It’s a Nikon D80 and I use it all the time. BUT — I never get anything printed! This would be GREAT!
Thanks for a chance at a terrific giveaway.

I definitely can’t live without my camera. I take pictures almost daily. In my daugther’s first 19 months of life, I’ve taken over 6000 pictures!
The gadget I can’t live without right now is my laptop! Between tracking my diet, organizing my recipes, emailing baby pictures, and reading blogs on how to save a buck and where to take my kid, I’d be lost without it. Plus I can use it while nursing or otherwise entertaining the munchkin!
The gadget I can’t live without….hmm….because I have an (almost) five month old, I’m constantly using my digital camera! I don’t know what I’d do without it!

My digital camera! I have 2 little boys and I MUST capture their every move!
My first thought was my cell phone – not that I talk on it a lot, but it keeps me connected all the time. However, after reading comments, my camera is an extremely important one – so that would be the one I couldn’t live without!
My laptop. Sad, but true. I’m glued to this thing for more hours a day than I care to admit.
My iPhone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t know if this is the kind of gadget you’re talking about, but I really couldn’t live without my Mac. All the other stuff is fun, but the one thing I use daily, without fail, is my computer. It’s my BFF.
