Ready to Win Some Healthy, Delicious Chocolate?

in giveaways

This giveaway is now closed. The winner is Melissa Walker – congratulations!

The first giveaway today is from Choffy.  What is Choffy, you may ask?

Oh my word.  I love this stuff.  Choffy is like coffee, but it’s actual 100% organic cacão beans (also known as cocoa beans), roasted to perfection.  In other words, Choffy is brewed chocolate.

Yes, you read me correctly.

coffee cup

Choffy is not only tasty, it’s healthy.  All the antioxidant value, mineral benefits, neurotransmitter rejuvenating properties, and overall health-giving qualities are found naturally in cacão beans. No sugar, no dairy, no chemicals. Just one ingredient – cacão.

In other words, this is healthy chocolate you can drink.

Cacão Beans Are Extraordinarily Nutritious

Here are just a few of the health benefits of Choffy.

theobromine versus caffeine

Theobromine: This gentle, yet long-lasting, stimulant provides you with a healthy energy lift by dilating the cardiovascular system, making the heart’s job easier. Theobromine does not affect the nervous system; therefore, it delivers energy without a crash, like one of the negative effects of caffeine.

Antioxidants: By weight, cacão contains the highest concentration of antioxidants of any food in the world – more than red wine, blueberries, açai, pomegranates, and goji berries combined. Choffy acts as a super-detoxifier, helping your body rid itself of the toxins that tax your system.

Magnesium: Cacão appears to be the best source of magnesium of any food. Magnesium is one of the great alkaline minerals, helping to support the heart, brain, and digestive system.  In addition, magnesium balances brain chemistry and builds strong bones.

Iron: Cacão contains a significant amount of iron per serving. Iron, a critical mineral in nutrition, is part of the oxygen carrying protein called hemoglobin that keeps our blood healthy.

Choffy is Easy to Brew

I love coffee, and Choffy hasn’t replaced it.  But it is a new drink we now enjoy in our family, and many people who don’t drink coffee have said that they do enjoy Choffy.

A commonly asked question is whether you can order the beans whole and grind them like you would coffee beans. The answer is no, because the cacão bean has unique properties that make it very difficult to grind. Choffy uses a special commercial grinder that has been developed to grind the bean to the proper consistency.

The Choffy website is very helpful, and includes brewing instructions, health information, and a simple ordering process.

choffy

One reader will win two 12-ounce bags of Choffy – one from Nicaragua, and one from Ivory Coast.  Here are these beans’ descriptions:

Nicaruagua: Savory, meaty, mouth watering and straight forward. A very pleasant earthy aroma, with very little astringency. Coffee-like aroma and taste with a hint of sweet spice and soft woods.

Ivory Coast: Nice depth of flavor with hints of light natural grains, dark spice with little and a classic earthy chocolate flavor.

I would love to say that the health benefits sound the most appealing, but honestly it has to be the “classic earthy chocolate flavor” that really has me intrigued.

avatar Kati

For me, it’s the stimulant without the crash. But I also love the idea of a warm drink that I might actually like. I don’t drink coffee, but have always loved its warmth and smell … just not the taste.

The nutritional values. Plus I’m not a huge coffee fan so I would love to try the chocolate you can drink….I’m a huge chocolate fan!!

avatar Katie

What is most appealing to me about Choffy is that it apparently tastes like both chocolate and coffee but is HEALTHY. During my morning cup of coffee (and mid-morning cup, and afternoon cup, and evening cup…) I am loving the taste, but constantly pushing away this little voice inside my head reprimanding me for the amount of caffeine I’m putting in my body. (I’m sorry but decaf just does not taste the same). Choffy’s website said it’s extremely low in caffeine though. This intrigues me…

avatar Katrina (Callapidder Days)

Um, my favorite feature? That it’s chocolate! Sounds delicious! Thanks for the great giveaway!

Yum! Choffy sounds delicious. I love that it is 100% cacao!

avatar Julia

Brewed chocolate?! I bet they have that in heaven. The best feature, though, has to be that it has theobromine instead of caffeine.

avatar Rachel Fix

I love the idea of drinking some antioxidants in the morning. And the fact that it is chocolate doesn’t hurt. :) Thanks for doing these giveaways!

I just love that it’s something completely different! Also that there’s no crash, which is the bad part about coffee. Would love to replace coffee with something more healthy.

avatar EricaB

I love that it’s brewed, so that the flavors are fresh and bold!

avatar Kat

I am with all those chocolate lovers out there. What I find most appealing about Choffe is that it is another way to consume chocolate!

avatar tara

Wow! My dh and I are quite obsessed with warm drinks (coffee and hot tea) to the point where we’ll soon be roasting our own coffee beans and growing our own tea leaves. I would love to try something new. How cool!!

The most appealing thing is it is CHOCOLATE!!!! I am not a coffee drinker at all but I love warm drinks so this sounds amazing.

avatar Dolly

Can’t wait to try it! I need all the extra energy I can get!

avatar Leslie G

The fact that it is basically brewed chocolate is very intriguing.

avatar Bryssy

Brewed chocolate, how can that be a bad thing? I am so wanting to try some!

avatar Sara

Oh how I long to cast aside my caffeine addiction!

Most appealing: “it delivers energy without a crash”

avatar Tarmar

Chocolate that you brew like coffee?! Sounds delicious! I would love to try an alternative to coffee.

I think the most appealing thing is the chocolate. My brain just went off in a chocolate dream.

avatar Adrienne G

I’m not a big coffee drinker, but I could get used to this!

avatar Mixie

I like that the Nicaraguan choffy flavor notes that it has very little astringency. Sometimes, the acidity of coffee does a number on my stomach so I would really like to try this when my innards are being a little uber-sensitive.

avatar Theo-Ann

Hmmm…what appeals to me?–the fact that it is chocolate and not coffee makes it a winner in my eyes. I’ve tried coffee in so many ways, but still do not enjoy it. My husband says that “One day you’ll grow up and like coffee.” :) I think choffee is the answer to my finally growing up and getting the little caffeine that I need.:)

But is Choffy committed to Fair Trade practices and sustainability of local farmers? Sounds interesting, would love to try it, but I don’t purchase coffee or chocolate that isn’t Fair Trade.

avatar Pat

This is something fresh and different! I would brew it for the girls while the guys are watching the Superbowl!

avatar Kasey

Antioxidants and the health benefits.

avatar saunaknitter

I like the lack of the caffeine crash!

avatar thessa516

The best thing is that it is chocolate! I wasn’t a huge chocolate fan until I got pregnant with my daughter. Now I’m one of those crazed chocolate ladies.

avatar Jennifer

Pure chocolate you can drink- yes, please! I love that chocolate has such a good rep these days- the antioxidants!

avatar Kim

I like the idea of something that give you energy without affecting the nervous system in a negative way. I love coffee, but I need to drink half caff otherwise I get jittery.

avatar Amanda

As far as I can tell there are two things to love:
1) CHOCOLATE
2) I can make it in my coffee maker, and then leave it in my insulated coffee pot, and sip on it all day!

avatar Jody

Ok, I know I should be happy that it’s healthy but I’d be lying to say that’s the most appealing part. What’s most appealing? One word… CHOCOLATE!!!

Yum! I love coffee and this sounds even better, more healthy. Hot chocolate is too sweet for me, but to have a chocolaty flavor in a hot, healthy drink sounds very appealing.

avatar Amanda

Hmmm…. I love chocolate in any form and am curious about this, as I’ve never heard of it before. The most appealing part is the thought of trying a “new” type of chocolate. and the health benefits too, of course. (ha! who am I kidding?)

avatar Danielle

Ummmm, chocolate? Yeah; you had me at chocolate. Adding coffee just makes it better! :) I linked to this post on my Facebook, does that count for a 2nd entry? If so, I’ll double my chances! Thanks!!

Wow! Something new, delicious, warm and drinkable that sounds like the best of both worlds. Who wouldn’t want to try it?! Thanks for the giveaway offer!

I’m always interested when antioxidants are involved, and in a chocolate drink? mmm… would love to try

avatar megan

Well, it IS chocolate so it’s already good in my book, but I also like that it “delivers energy without a crash or the other negative effects of caffeine.” That is the part of my coffee habit that I don’t like so much, and Choffy sounds like it would fix that!

avatar Mary

Oh, yes.
What sounds most appealing to me? The taste.

avatar Camille

OH my goodness, how have I never heard of this???
BLISS I tell ya, ohhhh, I’m crossing my fingers.. as both chocolate and coffee are major obsessions for me!
Thanks for the chance and the link!!

I know I live ON a rock, but I must also live UNDER one…because I’ve never heard of this before. The trifecta of my life is coffee, chocolate, and wine. Healthy chocolate? Chocolate that may be enjoyed like a coffee? This could be my next obsession!

avatar Elizabeth

Most appealing? Hot, chocolately goodness-nothing is better!

avatar Brigette Brown

Wow!! This sounds amazing. I have recently started drinking coffee every day. That is, after the birth of my fourth child in 6 years. I live being a SAHM but need help getting going in the morning. This sounds like a much healthier alternative to traditional coffee.

avatar RF

The most appealing thing to me is the health benefits. Sounds very interesting and I’d love to try it. Thanks for putting together all these great give-a-ways! It sounds like so much work, and I really appreciate the effort you put into this.

avatar Erin

I’ll have to cite two things that appeal to me here: 1) I like the antioxidant aspect here (you can’t get too many of those), but the biggest appeal to me is that now, 2) I too can drink a hot cup of something in the morning (I don’t care for coffee, but this would enable me to brew something rich, tasty and complex in the mornings and start the day off right).
