Ready to Win Some Healthy, Delicious Chocolate?

in giveaways

This giveaway is now closed. The winner is Melissa Walker – congratulations!

The first giveaway today is from Choffy.  What is Choffy, you may ask?

Oh my word.  I love this stuff.  Choffy is like coffee, but it’s actual 100% organic cacão beans (also known as cocoa beans), roasted to perfection.  In other words, Choffy is brewed chocolate.

Yes, you read me correctly.

coffee cup

Choffy is not only tasty, it’s healthy.  All the antioxidant value, mineral benefits, neurotransmitter rejuvenating properties, and overall health-giving qualities are found naturally in cacão beans. No sugar, no dairy, no chemicals. Just one ingredient – cacão.

In other words, this is healthy chocolate you can drink.

Cacão Beans Are Extraordinarily Nutritious

Here are just a few of the health benefits of Choffy.

theobromine versus caffeine

Theobromine: This gentle, yet long-lasting, stimulant provides you with a healthy energy lift by dilating the cardiovascular system, making the heart’s job easier. Theobromine does not affect the nervous system; therefore, it delivers energy without a crash, like one of the negative effects of caffeine.

Antioxidants: By weight, cacão contains the highest concentration of antioxidants of any food in the world – more than red wine, blueberries, açai, pomegranates, and goji berries combined. Choffy acts as a super-detoxifier, helping your body rid itself of the toxins that tax your system.

Magnesium: Cacão appears to be the best source of magnesium of any food. Magnesium is one of the great alkaline minerals, helping to support the heart, brain, and digestive system.  In addition, magnesium balances brain chemistry and builds strong bones.

Iron: Cacão contains a significant amount of iron per serving. Iron, a critical mineral in nutrition, is part of the oxygen carrying protein called hemoglobin that keeps our blood healthy.

Choffy is Easy to Brew

I love coffee, and Choffy hasn’t replaced it.  But it is a new drink we now enjoy in our family, and many people who don’t drink coffee have said that they do enjoy Choffy.

A commonly asked question is whether you can order the beans whole and grind them like you would coffee beans. The answer is no, because the cacão bean has unique properties that make it very difficult to grind. Choffy uses a special commercial grinder that has been developed to grind the bean to the proper consistency.

The Choffy website is very helpful, and includes brewing instructions, health information, and a simple ordering process.

choffy

One reader will win two 12-ounce bags of Choffy – one from Nicaragua, and one from Ivory Coast.  Here are these beans’ descriptions:

Nicaruagua: Savory, meaty, mouth watering and straight forward. A very pleasant earthy aroma, with very little astringency. Coffee-like aroma and taste with a hint of sweet spice and soft woods.

Ivory Coast: Nice depth of flavor with hints of light natural grains, dark spice with little and a classic earthy chocolate flavor.

Here’s How To Win:

wow. I’ve never heard of this and it sounds like a taste of HEAVEN! Chocolate you can drink… that has all the good for you stuff? What is not to like?

Most appealing to me:
“chocolate you can drink”

Mmmmm…..

avatar Kelly

YUM! The chocolatey flavor sounds delicious!

avatar Julie

I have never heard of this either and I love the fact it is all about drinking “healthy” chocolate. Makes the experience that much more enjoyable!!! Yummm

avatar Rachel

The feature most appealing to me is that it’s not addictive – I can have it as a treat but I won’t become a slave to it if I drink it a few days in a row. I know what it’s like to wean off of caffeine and I don’t want to go through that again!

avatar Martha

This sounds so good! For me, it’s very interesting as an alternative to use in my espresso machine:-)

avatar Serena

Well, I don’t like coffee, but this sounds amazing! A nice, warm beverage to wake up to is quite appealing.

avatar Jessica

Most appealing to me is chocolate pure and simple. I love coffee and chocolate, and I can’t pass this up.

avatar olrandir

I’d like to say the health benefits are a factor, but actually this sounds so intriguing I’d be tempted to try it even if it was toxic! Plus, of course, it’s chocolate.

So most appealing I guess is the “new way to consume chocolate in” factor (does that make sense?).

BTW, I’m not entirely certain I’m eligible for the prize since I don’t live in the US, but I thought I’d give it a try nevertheless -if nothing else, it’s as good an occasion for my first comment on your blog as any could be. (By-the-by-the-way, I love the concept of chocolate as a prize! Much more fun than the ordinary gadget prizes, even though it’s cheaper).

avatar Lisa

Wow! Sounds amazing! I have to agree that the part about a “new way to consume chocolate” is what most appeals to me.

avatar Email From The Embassy

Which feature sounds best? Well, it’s chocolate you can drink – what’s not to like about that? And if I put it in my coffee mug, my kids will think it’s coffee and they won’t ask to taste it. I’d love to try it.

New reader here…the chocolate part of the choffy sounds particularly interesting to me! I love everything there is about chocolate except for evil parts of it but I try not to think negatively. I lurv coffee tons but can’t always have it! Some choffy sound perf!

My daughter learned how Europeans used to drink chocolate when they first learned about the cocoa bean. We’d love to try for both flavor and historical reasons.

avatar amy salinger

most appealing to me is the ‘chocolate’ part! I am always trying to find a way to be ‘good’ about eating chocolate. Just this week my sister and I tried making the italian Chokalata’s (a thick hot chocolate). But they can be terribly rich and actually not all that healthy! so a dose of healthy chocolate sounds like a dream!!

avatar Laura

The Choffy is chocolate, but without the sugar… this sounds too awesome to be true. But feel free to prove me wrong by picking me as the winner! :)

avatar Kim

Wow, I’ve never heard of this, but as a committed chocoholic AND a lover of coffee, I’m thinking this a product I must try! I’m very interested in the theobromine and the way it functions differently than caffeine.
I’m also wondering if I could brew a pot of half cocoa/ half coffee?

Thanks for bringing this company to our attention!

avatar Julie

The high amount of antioxidants is something I find to be important.

I like that there isn’t caffeine, yet it is still a tasty hot drink I can enjoy while nursing. The high iron content is always helpful, too. And chocolate can never be bad! Thanks!

avatar Pat

I love both coffee and chocolate. Also it is an interesting source of iron and antioxidants.

avatar Andrea

I like the antioxidant benefit, but I also really am interested in finding a coffee-type drink that is really good. So far, I’ve not found anything that I think really tastes great. This may be it. Thanks for hosting the giveaway.

I love the chocolate part… mmm.

avatar Cindy

Everything about Choffy sounds appealing – chocolate is my favorite thing in the world. I guess the flavor, if I have to pick one. Hot cocoa is usually too sugary and sweet for me, so straight chocolate sounds lovely.

avatar Katie

Delivering energy without a crash! That sounds great. I’ve stopped drinking coffee since before I got pregnant with my little one… this sounds like a fun alternative.

avatar Lori

Brewed chocolate! I guess the main appeal is the health benefits. Count me in!

avatar Alice

A hot drink in this cold weather sounds best. Bonus that it’s chocolate!
