A Catch-All for the Busy Mom

This giveaway is now closed. The winner is Shelly S – congratulations!

Today is the last day of the Week of Giveaways. We’ve seen some pretty cool stuff around here this week, if I do say so myself.

The first giveaway is from Ruth Michael, a small business run by Ruth, who makes beautiful items from gorgeous fabrics. She creates backpacks, diaper bags, overnight bags, and even wallets. But I love the concept of what she’s giving away to one Simple Mom reader.

It’s simply called The Carrier. It’s basically a bag that you can use in your car to keep you organized. The Carrier has an open-top bag with the dimensions of a large show box, and it has pouches in the end and pockets on the sides.

You can put your coffee travel mug or water bottle in the end pouches, your mail and papers in the side pockets, and then kleenex boxes, magazines, notebooks, gameboys, candy and snacks in the large middle compartment.

This creative invention was born out of necessity from a typical mom of three battling car pool craziness – pretty ingenious, I say.

One Simple Mom reader will win his or her choice of a Carrier from Ruth Michael! They retail for $90.

Here’s How To Win:

1. Leave a comment on this post, answering this question – What is one of your least-favorite weekly errands?

2. To get a second entry – and a second entry on all the giveaways this week – subscribe to the Simple Mom feed and email me the movie quote at the bottom of any post in your feed reader or email inbox (there is only one quote for all the giveaways). Send it to simplemomblog (at) gmail (dot) com, and put the quote directly in the subject line. The body of the email won’t be read.  And you only need to email me the quote once in order to get a second entry for all the week’s giveaways.

3. Finally, to get a third entry, post or tweet about this giveaway – if you use the URL of this post, I’ll receive it – no need to email me.

This giveaway will end this Monday, February 2 at noon EST. I hope you win!

that is a great bag! i think my least favorite chore would be the big grocery shopping trip. it isn’t horrible, but sometimes it can be long!

  2. avatar Gabrielle says:

My least favorite weekly errand is getting the recycling together and taking it to the center. While I like getting it out of the house and believe in the importance of recycling, I don’t necessarily like the actual chore of doing it.
Thanks for the chance to win!

I would LOVE to have an organizer for my car (and I think my hubby would like it if my car was a bit more organized too!). My least favorite errand in the week is grocery shopping with a two-year-old. I usually enjoy grocery shopping, but since my son has turned two it is becoming increasingly difficult to shop, go through coupons, and entertain him at the same time.

  4. avatar Wendy says:

I enjoy grocery shopping. I even like doing it when I bring my daughter with me. What I hate is grocery shopping (okay, any shopping) with my husband. He makes everything so much more difficult!

  5. avatar Mrs. McGrew says:

First, I love the idea of this. I have a tattered basket sitting in the front seat of the car right now, but this is so much better. My least favorite errand is to the recycling center because it seems like such a hassle. I am often delighted when I go because I find “treasures” in the scrap pile a lot!

  6. avatar Chantel says:

I hate going to the Post office, for some reason the kids always seem to go NUTS when we get there…and the line is always so long with crabby old people giving me dirty looks for having more than one kid!
A close second is the library, my son loves to pull EVERY book off the shelf.

    Chantel´s last blog post…Mission get organized…HELP

  7. avatar Beth says:

I hate folding laundry…. because even as I put it away another pile is forming in the basket.

I would love to win one of these bags….

  8. avatar Melissa McAllister says:

Oh, please pick me, as my minivan is in desperate need of an organizer! My least favorite weekly errand is grocery shopping, but I’ve recently improved it dramatically by waiting to go after the kids are in bed & by taking my new iPod to catch up on NPR as I shop.

  9. avatar Jennifer says:

I agree with most of the other commenters but grocery shopping has gotten better now that my youngest is in pre-k 2 days/wk. I now can relax, enjoy my once/wk Starbucks treat and get all my shopping done every Tues am. I am blessed that I live where there is a Super Target and a Costco right next door, I park btw them and get it all done… Yes, I know BLESSED.

  11. avatar Krista D. says:

I LOVE this bag!!! My least favorite errand is the grocery store. Only because I have three kids under 5 and I end up being the big bad mommy for the entire trip.

  12. avatar Liz says:

I hate miscellaneous shopping at walmart. the day I pick to go always seems to be packed with people chatting in asiles and confusing the clerk at the self-check out lanes.

  13. avatar Donna A says:

I really have started to dislike grocery shopping. My little one does not want to sit and be strapped in the cart. He wants to walk everywhere and point to all the produce!

  14. avatar Kim says:

I always seem to procrastinate when it comes to recycling. Newspapers and cans start piling up in a box in my garage and for some reason I really do not enjoy getting all of it together and driving to the recycling place to drop it all off.

  15. avatar JP says:

My least favorite errand is fueling my vehicle when it’s 10 degrees outside.

  16. avatar rachel says:

cleaning the car… all the salt, dried slush, yuck…. in the cold!

  17. avatar Christa says:

My least favorite errand is grocery shopping. I really dislike the idea of getting home with $100 worth of NOTHING to really eat! I go with a list, and I still get so side-tracked. It’s worse when I try to take coupons.

This product is so cute, I really like the “Bubblegum n’ Brownies” fabric and colors!

  18. avatar Samantha R says:

Since I just have a 5 month old, I actually like errands! They give me an excuse to get out of the house!

  19. avatar Erin says:

I can’t say I have one errand I really despise, but I hate when I have a bunch of quick errands to do and I have to take my 11-month-old along. Getting her in and out of the car seat is a pain and she doesn’t like it either!

  20. avatar Jan says:

My least favorite weekly errand is the one to the grocery store. Or I should I say storeS because I usually go to more than one to get the best deals. It wears me out!

  21. avatar Anita B says:

I am a mom of a 2yo boy and a nanny of a 3yo boy, so I love going to the gym! But I don’t really like going grocery shopping right now. I used to, but now it’s just a fight because they both want to sit in the cart seat-they now take turns, but each one whines and pouts if they have to sit in the actual cart-where the groceries go.

Anita B´s last blog post…Milkshake Giveaway!

  22. avatar Sarah says:

I could do without shopping at Wal-Mart!

  23. avatar Katie C says:

My least favorite errand is grocery shopping! I have to schlep along my two little ones, so after getting coats and hats and mittens on and finding just the right toys and snacks and changing diapers, I haul them into their car seats, drive to the store, haul them out of the car and into the cart, try to keep my two-year-old from sitting on the food as I put it in the cart, and then haul them and the groceries back out to the car. It’s quite a chore!

  24. I love going to Costco (it is our family field trip :) ), but I hate going to the regular grocery store. Ugh. I’d pick the post office, but I avoid it at all costs…

  30. avatar Jill says:

My least favorite errand is anything that has to be done during rush hour.

  31. avatar Jaclyn says:

    I simply hate grocery shopping…ugh!

  32. avatar Michelle Meyer says:

Oh, I would LOVE to win this contest! I could really use one of these!! My least favorite errand is probably grocery shopping: it is not enjoyable when I have to take the kids, but the alternative is going at night after they have gone to bed, and I am usually quite tired by then.

  33. avatar Heather says:

I love grocery shopping- but HATE unloading and putting it all away!

  34. avatar Camille says:

Oh this one is cake–my least favorite weekly chore is hands down, grocery shopping. I’ve tried to figure out what my deal is, but just can’t put my finger on it.. I’m a complicated one. = )
BTW, this is a genius idea!! Very cool giveaway!

  35. avatar Sarah says:

I am glad to see that I am not the only one whose least favorite errand is grocery shopping. I have two boys under 2 so finding room in the grocery cart for actual groceries is a challenge. So I end up going on the weekend which takes away from family time.

  36. avatar Amy Jones says:

I’m not sure what my least favorite errand is- I don’t do many and don’t put off doing much. Maybe the post office? I rarely go- it’s hardly a weekly errand. I do most of my post office errands online.

But My least favorite chore is gardening.

  37. avatar Terri says:

I hate to grocery shop at night. Especially during the winter. I always think I should be snuggled up at home rather than out and about.

  38. avatar Terressa T. says:

What an AWESOME invention!! I could use one of these in each car! My least favorite weekly errand-getting gas in the car-I try to trick my husband into using that car on the day it needs filled so he’ll do it ;)

  39. avatar Ginny says:

I hate the grocery shopping. I seem to take forever looking for the best bargains and sometimes just wasting time so I won’t have to do laundry, fold it, or clean house, so I stay at the store!!! LOL

  42. avatar Amy says:

I really dislike having to pump gas. When we are in my vehicle together, I always mention to my sweetie that, “We need gas, please!” Lol.

  43. avatar Lucia says:

I really dislike ALL errands, but grocery shopping is probably my least favorite if my kids are in tow. Sans kids, I don’t mind grocery shopping.

Lovely bag…. off to check out the website!

  44. avatar Tamara says:

This is such a great prize! I’ve always said my car is just an over-sized purse.
As for errands–I’m blessed with a great husband who takes care of a majority of tasks like shopping, the bank, and post office (it’s also convenient for him going to & from work).
What I really dislike is when I have a variety of things we need or want, and I have to go to several places to get them. Getting the kids in and out, in and out of the car just drives us all nuts.

  52. avatar Marla says:

My least favorite is any errand that involves driving which I hate and rarely do. Luckily, I can get most of my errands done walking and using public transportation. But, for those times that I MUST use the car, “The Carrier” might make it not so bad.

Unlike a lot of you guys, I like groceries — but I try to go to the store only once for every two weeks. However, this RARELY works and I end up having to go again near the end of the two weeks for things that we’ve run out of and desperately need. Making these grocery trips is my least favorite thing to do because I am annoyed that I didn’t plan better.

This bag looks really cool — thanks for doing this giveaway!

  75. avatar Lindsey says:

My favorite weekly errand…hmmm is there just one thing?? My favorite errand is my reward for running the errands – a strawberry limeade or latte…whichever sounds best at the time!!!

  76. avatar Virginia says:

  85. avatar Abbigale says:

Laundry! I loathe doing laundry. I hate sorting it, I hate folding it. I taught my 6 yr old how to sort and she gets to keep any money she finds in the pockets. Hopefully she won’t hate laundry as much as I do when she grows up.

P.S. I LOVE this car carrier! I’m tired of carrying so much stuff in my purse that it now resembles a suitcase, but I’m a single mom and I live in a semi-small town so not only is it up to me to grab everything but I also try to get all of my errands done in one shot since its such a drive from home to town. It never fails, I always forget something or stuff gets left in the car because I can’t carry it all in.

I don’t mind grocery shopping in general but I choose to go to different stores because they carry different things that we like. So, the part I don’t like is the getting in and out of the car and having to drive around to different places. Also, I have to drive clear across town to the health food store. It would be nice to have one closer.

  93. avatar Laura Jones says:

Ah! This is my favorite giveaway so far, these bags look amazing. The errand I hate to do the most is anything at the mall, especially returns. I loathe the whole experience!

Driving the kids TO school. Usually in my pj’s. Freezing. Sitting in the car, waiting for that dime-sized hole of defrosted windshield to turn into a quarter-sized hole before beginning the drive (don’t ever step in front of my car on those mornings, lol!). My least favorite weekly errand is to the pediatrician. It is 45 minutes away and with 2 under 2 in the dead of winter, it feels like we are there at least once a week. The fact that it usually involves a shot makes everybody cry. It’s a good thing for me that the doctor is super cute!!!

  98. avatar Danielle says:
