This giveaway is now closed. The winner is Shelly S – congratulations!

Today is the last day of the Week of Giveaways. We’ve seen some pretty cool stuff around here this week, if I do say so myself.
The first giveaway is from Ruth Michael, a small business run by Ruth, who makes beautiful items from gorgeous fabrics. She creates backpacks, diaper bags, overnight bags, and even wallets. But I love the concept of what she’s giving away to one Simple Mom reader.

It’s simply called The Carrier. It’s basically a bag that you can use in your car to keep you organized. The Carrier has an open-top bag with the dimensions of a large show box, and it has pouches in the end and pockets on the sides.
You can put your coffee travel mug or water bottle in the end pouches, your mail and papers in the side pockets, and then kleenex boxes, magazines, notebooks, gameboys, candy and snacks in the large middle compartment.

This creative invention was born out of necessity from a typical mom of three battling car pool craziness – pretty ingenious, I say.
One Simple Mom reader will win his or her choice of a Carrier from Ruth Michael! They retail for $90.
Here’s How To Win:
1. Leave a comment on this post, answering this question – What is one of your least-favorite weekly errands?
2. To get a second entry – and a second entry on all the giveaways this week – subscribe to the Simple Mom feed and email me the movie quote at the bottom of any post in your feed reader or email inbox (there is only one quote for all the giveaways). Send it to simplemomblog (at) gmail (dot) com, and put the quote directly in the subject line. The body of the email won’t be read. And you only need to email me the quote once in order to get a second entry for all the week’s giveaways.
3. Finally, to get a third entry, post or tweet about this giveaway – if you use the URL of this post, I’ll receive it – no need to email me.
This giveaway will end this Monday, February 2 at noon EST. I hope you win!

grocery shopping, definitely

Though it’s not a weekly errand, I would say that my least favorite errand is taking the dog to the vet. I’m actually not a big dog person, our dog is ok, but other people’s dogs are suspect. It’s pretty nerve wracking for me, and I told my husband I don’t really want to do it. I also don’t like waiting in the auto shop waiting room, no matter how much knitting I have with me. I just don’t like the smells there.

Genius! It’s like a purse organizer for your car.
For some reason the errand I despise is when I have to stop and get gas Especially in the winter.
The drive back and forth to school. I love the kids’ school and wouldn’t switch them for the world, but the 45 minute round-trip commute twice a day gets really old, really fast.
Of course, I’m echoing the “can’t stand grocery shopping” comment. However, I’d like to add that it is especially horrendous when I forget or cannot get to it during the week and therefore have to shop on the weekend when EVERYONE is there.

I hate trying to get to the bank…especially in the winter with all the snowy paraphernalia.
i must say that i really don’t look forward to grocery shopping every week
I really dislike having to go to different stores to get bargains on stuff we regularly buy. Sometimes going through the sale fliers, clipping coupons and making different lists is overwhelming! But, it does save money and that’s why I do it.

what a great giveaway! my least favorite errand is picking up kids at school. One gets out at 2, one at 2:45 and one at 3:05. They are all in the same vicintity and there’s not really time to come back home so I end up spending 1 1/2 hours every day just picking up kids. This tote is just what I need!
Any quick in and out errand! With a 2 1/2 year old, nothing is as quick as it should be and a simple errand can turn into something much bigger by a tantrum.

My least favorite errand is definitely the grocery store. There’s the prep work of putting a list together, comparing coupons with the sales flyer, etc. The actual shopping is the easy part!
My least favorite is DEFINITELY the grocery store. Do not like!!!

I guess one of my least favorites is getting gas. I’m such a germ-a-phobe.
The recycling center is a pain.

I love the menu planning, comparing to my cabinet inventory, making a shopping list…but the actual grocery shopping is a dreaded trip.

My least favorite errand is getting gas. Such a silly one. But I hate getting out in the cold. We have 1 car, and I drive it all the time during the week – but I’ll try to hold off getting gas til the weekend so my hubby can get it instead
I also work as a Nanny (using my car all the time, and it’s tiny!) – and this would be a wonderful helper in my car now that I’m toting kids around in it!

My least favorite errand would be grocery shopping with both of the kids. A close second would be getting gas.

HA!! I didn’t even have to think about this one! Picking up the dry cleaning. Don’t ask me why, it only takes a few minutes, but I hate doing it and try to get my husband to go whenever I can.

oh how i love bags….
this certainly isn’t a weekly errand, but grocery shopping is the peak of my household-duty hatred. i just can’t justify spending money on stuff i’ll literally *flush down the toilet*….

My least favorite errand is dropping-off or picking up the kids from our new Middle School (grades 5-8). It was built 5 years ago to be terrorist proof, intruder proof. Literally hundreds of cars and 40 busses must crawl bumper-to-bumper down the 2 driveways that lead to the school. It takes 10-15 minutes to drop off your children at the only school doors that are unlocked. It is mayhem at a standstill! Everyone I know hates it, and it’s a lousy way to start the day.
oh boy do I need that bag! It can also hold all my overdue library books that I just hate returning!
I don’t really have a least favorite errand, other than grocery shopping, which is only bi-weekly. And I don’t mind it so much when I get to go alone, just if I have to take all three of my monsters along!

I always dread grocery shopping.
I’d say banking. I do most of my banking online, but I really despise that rare occasion when I actually have to go to the bank. And dragging all the kids inside with me is the worst!
I really don’t like going to the grocery store. Well at least with my son! If I was doing it alone it would probably be better!
I hate grocery shopping.. especially with kiddos
Julie´s last blog post…Heartwarming
This is kind of interesting because I never stopped to think about my WEEKLY errands. I don’t have any! We don’t do dry cleaning (very often), car pools, kid-chauffering (any more), etc. My husband takes care of most of the banking errands–but most of that is done by automatic deposit or online, so it’s not weekly. I do most of the grocery shopping, but again, sometimes my husband will do it. AND we don’t always do it every week. I tried the “once a month” shopping, but that was too overwhelming, so now we are trying the “every other week” method, which works pretty well. I said all that to say, grocery/household shopping is my least favorite errand simply because it takes me so long to get from one end of our super center to the other. By the way, that’s a beautiful bag! A wonderful idea.
I dislike grocery shopping when I HAVE to fill the fridge.
I love this carrier! I need this because what I have just isn’t working. My least favorite errand is grocery shopping at the co-op with my one year old. It is too small and I like to read the labels because I’m new to the co-op and she hates to sit there that long.
Amy´s last blog post…Funny things
I hate any errand that is relatively quick. Let me explain. If I go grocery shopping, the hassle of taking the 2 kids out of their carseats and packing them into the cart doing the shopping and then loading the groceries and the kids back into the car is at least somewhat worth it because it takes me some time to shop.
I really hate going somewhere like the cleaners or the post office or the bank where I have to load/unload the kids in the car for a 2 minute trip inside. It just doesn’t seem worth the effort!
That’s my excuse at least to get my husband to do it!
My least favorite errand is going grocery shopping… (I usually get fresh bread, fruit etc at a local market, but sometimes have to go to a big store, too…)
I don’t like going to the post office as you normally have to stand in a long line. I also have a very strong dislike for grocery shopping on a Saturday when the stores are packed.
Wow! I so need this bag for my van. (I’m sure my husband would second that.) My least favorite errand is definitely going to the post office.
I generally don’t mind doing errands. Winter Grocery shopping is pretty low on the list. I have 2 small kids and the extra time it takes dealing snow makes it frustrating.
My least favorite errand would have to be anything that requires shopping. I just don’t like it.
Loretta´s last blog post…How can I keep from singing?
My least favorite errand is either grocery shopping (cause I have to take the kids with me) or taking the kids to dace class (not really an errand, but feels like it) . I have two in different classes on the same night with only 45 min between, not enough to go home to much to hang out, it is a nightmare when I have all 3 kids with me.

My least favorite would be driving kids to sport practices. It is like a job.
Least favorite is driving across town to drop off the cable bill.

Oooh, Life is very different right now since we just moved, and we’re living with another family. Moving from a warm climate to snow is sure a switch. Any errand involves lots more steps now, and we are definitely not very coordinated yet! It is a lot harder bundling up five kids, warming up the van, getting them in there and seat-belted in, and having enough hands to bring what I need plus my coffee.
The bag is gorgeous…and useful. LOVE IT!

Anything involving a vehicle! Getting gas, registering or inspecting, getting a car wash–any of those things just irritates me! But I LOVE this giveaway! Beautiful fabrics and the bag is a must for every mom. Thanks!

Definitely grocery shopping! My husband does a much better job of it than I do.
My least favorite errand is putting gas in the car! It slows me down. Really?… can’t the car just keep going???
My least favorite errand is grocery shopping …. it just sucks the life right out of me. I try to do it quickly and do everything I can to increase the time between trips to the grocery store

Grocery Shopping!!! I hate the coupons. I hate the meal planning. I hate using lists. I hate the temptations. I hate pushing the heavy unwieldy “car” cart that my daughter sits in. I hate it when everyone is in my way. I hate bringing the bags in the house and up the stairs (kitchen is up stairs). I hate putting it all away. And I hate the whine from husband, “what did you buy?” Oh, its just so overwhelming. (If you could see me my hand is on my forehead and my head is tilted back.)
(oh and I know hate is a strong word and I hate to use it :0), but I figure its OK if you aren’t talking about people).
I hate grocery shopping!!!!! You would think then that I would do one big shopping day but I hate it so much that I only go in and get what I need so therefore I have to go more often. doesn’t make sense i know.
Milk runs. We drink more milk than the entire state of VT. We actually have neighborhood dairy that delivers milk twice a week. But the family is “between business cards” so delivery is not an option we can afford. The dairy has a HUGE fleet of darling vintage-looking trucks that look like somethings the Brits might drive. While those darling trucks are roaming the street, I’m off to buy more milk. I buy three gallons at a time for a family of four. I try to make it fun an liken them to dumbells. But, they’re too heavy. I dream of having a dairy cow on the south side of our home by the kitchen wall with a direct pipeline from utter to faucet. But, I don’t think Denver permits bovines in city limits. Hey, I’d rather shovel cow poo and feed Bessie than get in the car to buy milk. I’d put a cowbell around Bessieis neck for looks too. It’s be black cause she’d be an urban cow.

Grocery shopping…there’s hardly any room for groceries once I put my baby in the cart, so I have to go more frequently.
Not an errand but vacuuming! How do my floors get so full of junk?

My least favorite errand is getting groceries!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the bag!
Getting gas is the worst, even though it doesn’t take long. In the winter its just too flippin cold and in the summer the teenagers hanging out all over and the loud cars, so annoying.
TheresaB´s last blog post…Green Sleeve – Purple Camo
My least favorite errand is dropping clothes off at the Goodwill. It is completely out of my way so I never have time to make it there and the clothes end in my trunk for weeks.
My least favorite errand is taking my kindergartner to and from school. It’s afternoon, half-day, and I have 3 other kids to cart to and from. It’s hardly long enough to get everyone home and down for a nap before I have to wake them up again to pick him up.
Yep, me too GROCERY SHOPPING. I always dread having to mind two little ones and try to remember everything we need (even with a list!).
Laura´s last blog post…Food Friday: MMMMMuffuletta
I don’t like going to the post office to mail packages. It hard to find good parking and then unloading my packages, my toddler, and getting them, and my prego belly inside always seems like such an ordeal.

What is one of your least-favorite weekly errands?
The walmart run. Especially if I have to take one or both of my sons with me.
Heather´s last blog post…Friday Felicities 1/30/09
I would have to say the post office. Customer service is not high on the list of priorities for our local post office – they have no incentive because there is no competition. All but one of the workers at our post office seem to hate their jobs and the line is always long.
My least favorite weekly errond is dropping off the bank deposit from my husband’s business on Fridays. I’ve tried to convince him that a Saturday deposit would be much better because the line at the bank on Friday afternoons is CRAZY! There’s so many people cashing their paychecks on Fridays that we wait and wait and wait.
Grocery shopping. UGH!
I guess my least favorite errand is to any store where I only need 1 or 2 items. It is hard to drag to kids into a store for only a few items, I wish a store existed where I could get EVERYTHING in one place!
My least favorite errand is putting gas in the car. Not a fan.

I truly despise going to the grocery.
going to the dry cleaner. ugh.
Least favorite weekly errand? That one ingredient that I forgot at the grocery store…..even though it was on my grocery list!
Shawnda´s last blog post…Win, win, win!
grocery shopping with two kids has to be the worst thing for me to have to do.
Picking up the milk. We buy organic, raw milk from a local dairy which is delivered to a house in town. I always forget something, the empty milk bottles, the checkbook, and sometimes the milk. I wish the milkman would deliver to my doorstep like the good ol’ days!
Ooo I love these!
My least favorite errand is taking my three boys (under 5 years old) grocery shopping by myself. They are good kids but it’s stressful to keep them happy, make sure I’m not forgetting anything on the list and keeping track of how much money is being spent.
Tammi´s last blog post…School rooms and cameras
Love It! I absolute HATE having to drop extra things off at the school. My daughter rides the bus, and her school is in a very inconvenient location. It irks me when I have to make an extra trip out there, having to haul my youngest one with me. It takes forever!
My least favorite is fueling up at the gas station.
Going to the bank! It is totally out of the way from my other weekly stores! Going out with 15 month old twins means I have a small window of time, so the drive time to the bank is frustrating! I love this bag, I could totally use this!
Ugh. I can’t stand grocery shopping. I have no idea why. I think it’s because the store is so far away and then you finally get home and you still have to unpack everything.
Grocery shopping is my least favorite errand of the week! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
Going to the bank. I always feel like they give me that I know how much money is in your account look!

Right now it’s grocery shopping merely because unloading everything and keeping my son entertained afterwards while trying to not fall on the ice everywhere is quite the task.
Getting gasoline. It’s way to flippin cold to be standing outside pumping fuel.
My least favorite errand is going to the post office with kids. The line is usually long and the floors echo, magnifying every noise they make.
groceries!
This would definitely help with the constant clutter in my car. I’m basically a glorified taxi cab and supplies need to be kept within arms reach at all times.
Going to the bank
Running to the store for forgotten/last minute items. I don’t mind a big trip to the store with a planned list, coupons, etc, but I hate having to run out for the little one-off trips.

Least favorite weekly errand? Grocery shopping, hands down!
I hate going grocery shopping. I’m not sure why, but it just does me in! for a family of 8 by the time I plan, shop, load in the car, unload into the house, and put away, I’m exhausted!! It just seems to take too long!
Love your blog!! Great ideas and I love this bag that is being given away. DARLING!!! Bags are my true vice~I love to collect them. Thanks so much. Renee
My least favourite is usually doing the Wal-Mart run. Once a month, I go to Walmart for diapers, toiletries and vitamins because you can’t beat the prices but boy, that place is drama drama drama!

the drycleaner!
My least favorite errand is driving the kids to school…I’m perpetually late, the car is trashed (which is why I would LOVE this giveaway), and I tend to let myself get in a bad mood. No fun for anyone!
My least favorite weekly errand is anything “extra” that I have to squeeze into my already-crazy-busy schedule. I have it down to a science, and if anything creeps in to disrupt (or interrupt) it, it throws EVERYTHING else off!
Kelley @ O2BNAZ´s last blog post…that’s one way to put it…
Any errand that involves children whining.
Going to Wal-mart and having to come home to unload groceries.
i have been wanting one of the carrier bags. i hop i win!!!!
going to the bank
Christy´s last blog post…simple skirt for spring
Grocery shopping can be my least favorite errand because the kids don’t like going (most of the time) or they want to look at too many things and we go to four different stores to get the best deals.
it’s a toss up between cleaning the bathroom and vacuuming. One is gross, one is heavy and time consuming.
Cathy´s last blog post…Walnut Chocolate Chip Cookies
Grocery shopping for sure. The closest store to me is always crowded (no matter what time) with people who are irritable and no fun to maneuver around. No one says excuse me when they run over your foot with their cart or reach in front of you to get something. I usually drive farther away just to go to a store with nicer people!
LOVE that bag!
These are awesome! I don’t mind errands, as it gets me and the kids out of the house but when it’s snowing or raining I really dread food shopping!
Wow – gorgeous bags!!! I’m crossing my fingers this time! Least favorite errand… Well, I don’t mind grocery shopping, but if I’m not organized, but I have to go and do a big shopping trip with both kids, then that for SURE is my least favorite errand. My second choice is any trip to WalMart. Ug.
I don’t really mind getting groceries, but it is hard to do it with my 8-month-old. I don’t feel comfortable putting the car seat in the cart (and it takes up too much room when you have a cart full of food) and I don’t trust his balance yet to sit in the cart alone, so I usually put him in the Baby Bjorn. And then it’s hard to dig to the bottom of the cart or reach high to pluck something off the back of the top shelf. Still, I manage. Moms always do.
That bag is amazing – and I really need some help in my messy car! Let’s see – least favorite weekly run would have to be the grocery store. Unless I have the rare opportunity to go alone, my kids just drive me nuts with their constant “are we done yet?” and “can we get that sugar coated candy covered junk?”

I don’t like filling the car up with gas. It really doesn’t take very long, and I pay at the pump, but I still put it off as long as I can.
