For lots of people, e-mail is a beast with a never-ending bottom.  Like the bottomless fries at some restaurants, only not nearly as salty delicious.

I would imagine that Tsh’s inbox, with a variety of blogs to manage and books to write, would probably make most of us pass out on first glance.  But for the rest of us, with a more average number of unread emails, this project may not seem all that important to tackle.  Or is it?

One bite at a time together: Start cooking staples from scratch (project 26)

I‘m a big fan of making as few things from a box, can, or bag as possible so I loved the idea behind Project 26.  Over the years I’ve found that not only does the food taste so much better than anything you can buy pre-made, but it really doesn’t take nearly as long as you might think!

As long as you have the right ingredients on hand, you can usually whip things together faster than the time it would take to run to the grocery store and buy it.  (Not to mention the health benefits!)

I love making my own french bread.  Fresh, hot, easy…and your family thinks you’ve slaved away for hours.  You don’t have to tell them it only took about ten minutes of actual work on your part.  That can be our secret.

One bite at a time together: Organize your photo collection (project 25)

Written by Jeannett Gibson of Life Rearranged.

I’m working through Tsh’s ebook One Bite at a Time, one project at a time. The tasks don’t have to be accomplished in any order, so feel free to pick up a copy of the ebook for only $5 and jump in at any time!

Of all the projects in the ebook, this was the one that gave me the most anxiety.

The concept of digital image management is the proverbial monkey on my back. I have not only read stories, but also have dear friends, who have had their hard drives crash in a blaze of glory. I’m told over and over again that it’s not a matter of if it will happen…but when.

Thousands of images, years of memories, and millions of megapixels gone forever. Or at least not to be recovered without a hefty sum. All those birthday parties, first steps, spaghetti sauce messes, and newborn toes irretrievable.

Having grown up in a culturally traditional Portuguese home, I was raised on the notion that nothing smelled quite so sweet as the scent of bleach and Pine Sol wafting through the house. The only thing better was the smell of bleach, Pine Sol, and some kind of soup boiling on the stove, wafting through the house.

So, when I grew up and had a place of my own, I adopted a similar principal. The harsher the chemical the better, right? My college apartment was probably the cleanest and most sanitized apartment in town. Mind you, I didn’t have kids yet, so this wasn’t a difficult task. Or at least that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

One bite at a time together: Regularly turn off your TV (project 23)

Written by Jeannett Gibson of Life Rearranged.

Television has long been a point of contention in our home.

My husband loves television (particularly sports), while I would happily toss the whole dang thing if I had the opportunity.  For years, whenever a special occassion came up, be it our anniversary, Valentine’s Day, my birthday, President’s Day—my husband would ask if I had a specific gift in mind.  Every year, every holiday it was the same response: “Throw away the TV.”

While that never actually happened, every few months he would commit to “watching less.”  The problem was that this would work well for about, oh, say a week, and then the tube would be flipped on first thing and stay on…even when he wasn’t in the room.

After a few hours on my couch and throw pillows watching reruns of Hoarders, I would turn it off only to hear exclamations from the garage: “Hey!  I was watching that!”

As you can imagine, this drove me batty.  Absolutely batty.
