I am so glad I found your site! It's so wonderful, and I love this entry. We're in the middle of moving house, and it's my first time to undertake such a task. Thankfully, it was a pretty OK move considering it was the first time we were moving into a new place. I wish I had discovered this entry sooner, but it turns out that I did a good number of these tasks during the move (Pat on the back.).

I'll be sure to stay tuned to your blog!

I love this idea! We are moving from Virginia to Colorado in June/July and I think this is a great way to pack up super essential areas of the home (ie, Family Room, Kitchen, Master Bedroom/bath and craft area). Our upcoming move is a "no-touch" move, but I think I need to control things a bit more, so I will pre-pack the essential areas of our home.

Great ideas. I am living in my first apartment in over 25 years. I have always lived in single family homes. I love my apartment and they are especially well taken care of. The best value for the money in my area.

I am living in my first apartment in over 25 years (lived in homes). I love it. It has taken some adjustments, but nothing earth shattering.........I live in a wonderful community. The apartment in up to par and the special thing about our complex is the grounds. They are gorgeous and they are well kept. Check everything out before you move in and you should have a pleasant time.............

having just found out we are moving cross country again (this is the 2nd time this in the last 6 months!) i am gearing up for the craziness of moving a family of six (four kids under 6 years)!! thank you for this guide. i love the celebratory glass of wine at the end of the first night. a great plan we implemented this past move in october was to have someone keep the kids and the other someone direct the movers. that way mama didn't pull her hair out. thanks to my dad who came up to help me and kept the mover's busy while i ran around with the kids! cheers to those who strive to keep it simple. each move i endeavor to purge and give away anything we havn't used in a year - i guess this time its whatever we havn't used in 6 months! you could say that being a military wife can lead to a simple life?:)
