The photo above? Yeah… That’s our new kitchen as of this afternoon. This is what it was like last week:

We didn’t waste any time. And needless to say, we’re very much in that it-gets-worse-before-it-gets-better phase. So grateful for a husband who knows what he’s doing. Or at least pretend to know what he’s doing.
So our physical home is pretty much a mess right now, but this online home of ours? It just got a little facelift. It might actually not look that terribly different to you—that’s sorta the point, actually—but I’d love for you to let me know if you find any snafus or design weirdness as you poke around the site. And in the next few weeks, we’ll migrate all the other SLM sites as well.
We just switched over to Genesis, thanks to the genius work of Brian Gardner. So very thankful for his creativity!
I’ve got some exciting news come Thursday, and something special I know you’ll love come Friday. Be looking for it!

Tsh, you inspire me, thank you for writng and sharing, I am learning and have learned so much from you!!

Beautiful. I’m reading on an iPhone. The text column is chopped just slightly.
Me too!
We wanted to work out the kinks of the theme/design before we moved into a fully responsive layout for mobile device viewing. Hopefully pretty soon that experience will be 10x better than what it is now.
tsh it is incredible. . . but your husband is speedy gonzales. .
I am really looking forward to see how your kitchen will look like. . .
thanks for sharing
On the side bar, where it lists the 3 most recent articles from each SLM site, the articles keep switching around. For instance, right now it says that Simple Kids has all the Simple Homemade articles, Simple Homemade has all the Simple Homeschool etc. If you click, it still directs to the correct site though.
Nice work on the kitchen, btw! I’m sooo intimidated by kitchen renovations. I need my stove, sink, etc!

Thanks for reporting that Sarah, it was a CSS glitch, and I’ve since resolved the mismatched headers/feed lists.
Eeeeek! But, man, I cannot wait to see what you guys do with the place!

Thanks, everyone! Keep your feedback a-comin’…
Renovations will be SO fun – and worth it!
The first page I loaded was 2/3 chopped off

That’s because of a wonky ad, not the new layout. We’ve told our ad network. Thanks!
The sidebar with the other SLM sites is still mixed up. (saw you said you fixed it earlier) Simple Homeschool under Simple Homemade etc. Good luck!
Wow, looks like you’re really going for it with the kitchen reno. I bet it’s be fab – can’t wait for the ‘afters’. Hugs, B x

Good luck with the renovation! It’s always so much quicker to tear it all out than it is to put it back together, right?

I was totally going to say it gets worse before it gets better, but you said that yourself. I am in declutter, rearrange mode at my house right now and I am definitely living by that saying. It is such a mess!

Today is the first day that any of your posts after “we bought a house” showed up when I clicked on the simple mom website. Also, today is the first day Simple Design showed up linked from the Simple Mom page for me, although I got there from the other Simples. Thanks for all your hard work!
Looking good – I appreciate the gets worse before it gets better phase! Love your post!
Your search function doesn’t appear to be working? I’m in Chrome, and I’ve tried searching for three terms and the “results” are the same most recent articles that show up if I click on the home page….
All that in one week?
Your husband is a “keeper”

You’ve heard the expression you can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. In our house your picture would be referred to as the egg breaking stage!
Can’t wait to see how the kitchen turns out when you’re finished! As for the online renovations I have to say I don’t see much of difference. You used the Thesis theme before right? Why did you switch to Genesis?

Congratulations on both remodeling projects. Can’t wait to see the kitchen!
I don’t know if this counts for the type of design feedback you want, but I feel like your logo (top banner) is small compared to everything else, and doesn’t tell me as instantly where I am as the old one used to. JMO.
